Hi there any other mummies of Christmas babies out there? If so congrats on surviving the 1st month!
I'd love to hear from anyone else in the same boat as me, compare notes and have someone to talk to in the middle of the night when feeding instead of eavesdropping on other peoples threads!

I'm in! Another Christmas Baby, hurrah! No idea where the last month went though, seems like a week at most...

How are you getting on? I am breastfeeding which goes great somedays, shocking on others, but am trying to take each day as it comes. Had a scary bright green poo incident two days ago which scared me but we're back to the usual picalili colour now.

Doesn't feel like Christmas actually happened here, what was it like for you? And congratulation on your wee one Smile

Lucycarr · 24/01/2012 10:20

Yey!

Getting on ok thank you - like you say good days and bad but generally good : )

I'm breast feeding too which is usually the cause of the bad- some nights she's like a ganet and I'm shattered during the day ( also have a 3 yr old - so no sneaky day time naps to catch up! )

No Christmas didn't really happen here either, My ds came up to the birthing centre in the morning to open his stocking whilst I was in they birthing pool but apart from that not very festive ..... and I missed out on Christmas dinner!

Oops I hadn't finished!l

Is this your first baby? You sound like you are getting on really well - I remember with my ds by week 6 I felt able to function like a normal human being again! But it really hasn't been as bad this time.

Had my lo weighed yesterday and she has but on over 2 lb since birth - must be all the dairy milk I'm eating : )

Thanks for replying

Christmas was strange, the build up was overshadowed by me going overdue and mw becoming concerned about whether baby was growing. Resulted in me being induced - this was meant to happen on Christmas Eve but we got turned away because the labour ward was full! Anyway, we went back on Christmas Day and got the ball rolling pretty quickly - OH got to sample the delights of hospital Christmas Dinner (slice of gravy anyone?!) and LO arrived by 7pm. Been really lucky that she took to bf really quickly, we've had our ups and downs but trying to take it in our stride.
It's our first child (possibly only, but who knows?) and i'm very fortunate to have an incredibly supportive partner who has been able to take quite alot of leave. My family live 200 miles away so i really appreciate it.

I think we've been blessed with a very chilled out baby - we've had a few projectile incidents which freaked me out to start with, but i've got over that one now! And occasional grumbles in the evening when she cries a bit. But honestly, compared to the horror stories i was told about getting absolutely no sleep, bleeding nipples etc, i think we're doing pretty well. Saying that, she's currently having a right good cry at my OH!

How is your 3yr old coping with the new arrival? And how are you managing with 2 to take care of?!

Ps green poo, this is normal sometimes isnt it??!

Lucycarr · 24/01/2012 22:24

Yep green poo has featured here too, tis normal I believe.

Blimey induced on Christmas day is a bit unfair, my due date was Christmas eve so dd only a day late labour started naturally Christmas eve , thought it would be quick as ds was but babe wasnin wrong position and it took an exhausting 26 hrs of labour before our lo arrived.

It really helps having a supportive partner, we have recently moved so I know what you mean about not having family nearby.

My ds is a star he seems to really like his sister which is a relief as he has always been a bit of a mummy's boy and I was worried he would be jealous- think the dog Is actually more jealous his walks have been seriously cut back!

Dd took well to bf too no sore nips or nightmares with latching like with my ds.

Does your dd have a mad feeding frenzy in the evening? Mine seems to feed more orless continuously from 7 pm until 9/10pm ish it's a pain I don't get to have any meals with knife and fork - spoon ( shovel) only!

4am, that's brilliant! What time was the last feed before that? LO feeds about every hour and a half from about 6pm til 9.30/10.30. I'm quite strict with her though, i don't let her guzzle too much as she tends to gorge then projectile - i think i have a really fast let down which means she gets twice as much in half the time! On the up side it means that feeds don't take too long, but she does need alot of burping! And i don't let her suckle too much either, she's finding her hands now so she'll probably be sucking her thumb in no time.

Lol at the dog being jealous, how annoying it must be bein outranked by a miniature person who smells of puke Wink

We ventured into town for lunch with some friends today. It was lovely seeing them but i can't help feeling a little bit detatched from it all, i was just really happy to head home and get all cosy with my baby and my man - how sad is that?! Think i'll have to make a real effort not to lose touch with friends who don't have kids, it would be so easy to disappear into a family bubble...

Lucycarr · 25/01/2012 22:39

Yes last feed about 10 ish last night - 9 tonight so will wait and see what time she wakes tonight.

Think she is maybe comfort feeding perhaps I need to be a little stricter?

It is so easy to disappear into the 'family bubble' as you say - cute warm cuddly baby and hubby, enjoy : )

It won't be long before you are craving friends without children for a bit of a break from talk of sore bums, reflux etc!

Fingers crossed for a good night tonight : )
