Have I missed the thread or am I starting one?!

DD was born on 01.06.11 and I could do with some mates :)

Bogeyface thanks for the tip on the Infacol, we will try it! :)

Aloha31 · 21/07/2011 10:58

79 how do we join up with the other thread, is it possible?

I think I am missing signs as to when my dd is tired during the day, so am on the look out today to try and get her a couple of decent naps - seems to have worked this morning anyway!

She wakes at least hourly from 4am, but looks so happy to see me or daddy each time that I just can't complain!

I have some infacol in - but came across a homeopathic remedy which I'm going to try first - dd has terrible wind/fussiness in the day due to - I think - oversupply (I phoned LLL counsellor who gave advice).

How much should a 6 week old nap in the day?!?!

Aloha31 · 21/07/2011 11:16

Toya how did ur LO sleep last night?

Wii has DS broken thru the growth spurt?!

79monica · 21/07/2011 13:19

Aloha31 to join the other thread just follow the link in my last post and introduce yourself, the Jue in June ladies are a lovely bunch Smile

ToyaJane · 21/07/2011 14:24

Aloha31 - she slept from half 10 till 7 with a little grizzle at 11.30 (she just wanted a cuddle), she is very sleepy at the moment tho. Very grizzly today because she has trapped wind. We been using infacol but are going to try gripe water now.
I would be interested to know how much they are supposed to nap in the daytime.

Jdmwestlondon · 21/07/2011 21:12

Hi there my DS (born 8th June) is suddenly feeding a lot too, smaller amounts more often, & has been very grizzly in the day tho which improved a bit with Infacol and gripe water BUT 2 days ago I got a Dr brown bottle and the difference has been dramatic. The hassle of having to make up the feed in a conventional bottle and decant it when it is the right temperature is negligible compared to the relief - he wasn't as bad as many colicky babies but it was a matter of spending a good hour and a half soothing him to sleep every time, and now there is still a little bit of grimacing and back arching etc but very very little. I am hoping it lasts. He is stuck on needing food every 4 hours at best but I can deal with that if I don't then have to stroke him/rock him etc etc from 1am to 3am every single night like I have been...I have heard that the Dr B bottle work well if you have a baby that gulps air with his feed which must have been the case with him

Bogeyface · 21/07/2011 21:15

JDM Thank you!

It had never occurred to me to try those bottles, even though I have read about them several times. DD is very windy and really does suffer with it, she gulps loads when feeding, despite trying every teat known to man, and doesnt bring it all up so spends alot of time screaming out suddenly, writhing and crying then farting, poor wee thing.

Will get a couple tomorrow :)

I got a single one from Boots (about 6 quid) to see how I got on (I don't work for them honestly!) and got a 2nd one today, they are expensive on the face of it but I am so relieved to have identified the problem - my DS had exactly those symptoms - lots of writhing and thrashing and gulping and the anguished look on his face was just tearing me apart! I don't think he had it as bad as a lot of babies by the sounds of it - good luck - let me know how it goes - I have to say I have heard of people getting one and it having no effect whatsoever obviously every baby is different. I have ploughed thru most other suggestions. I wish I had got one a few weeks ago, but better now than never

Bogeyface · 21/07/2011 21:38

Thanks again JDM :)

My dd1 (second child of 6!) had rotten colic. It was a horrible 3 months. She would scream almost constantly between 5 pm and 1pm every night. She was in agony and I felt like such a failure, it was awful. So its hard to judge how bad it is for DD2 as it is nowhere near as bad as DD1 was. But if that will help her then I will definitely try it.

Can I join your thread ladies, only just managing to get time to be back on here. Had my baby boy on June 7th, 6w 5d today.
Baby number 6 for me, and am so grateful for the holidays, no more rushing around trying to get out the door n to school in time, breakfast is served when I get around to it lol.
My little man was 10lb,13 at birth, he lost a pound n 4 ounces but on introducing a bottle his weight is going up quickly, but he settled on my milk for longer which is weird. Quite sad I only managed 6 weeks breastfeeding wanted to go on for longer but milk has dried up :(
Am finding he dosent bring his wind up to well, but like father like son he will send it out the other end lol, suppose he has to have some of daddys traits lol.
Is anyone managing to feel back to normal yet?
I would feel totally myself if it wasn't for my spare tyre round tummy that seems to be getting bigger instead of shrinking :/
Am thinking now the breastfeeding is done with I should maybe start a diet, but have no enthusiasm to give up chocolate n no energy for exercise! So don't look like that will be happening for a while.

Aloha31 · 29/07/2011 09:21

Hello Almost 6, my dd about the same age and no, not back to normal yet! although i have figured out when she needs a nap, so i've been putting her in her crib which helps - she is less cranky and i don't go crazy trying to figure out if she is hungry/windy/bored etc!

Also, due to this I was feeding her every hour which made her expect it (am bf) but getting back on track now where she takes a big feed every 3 hours (every 4 or 5 in the night) so this is all really helping me to feel more human!

Have been doing gentle exercise - a physio/pilates teacher friend said just to go about your day with your navel sucked in -seems easy enough!
