Hi all its thedogwalker have name changed Grin
Hello Fioled so glad X is bringing you so much joy. Its great to hear from you. I agree this is a very slow thread. Our LOs will have left home before we finish it.

Maiden yes T hugging and kissing with Christian does melt my heart. Glad F is now talking, I love listening to T chatting away, he can now sing baa baa black sheep and twinkle twinkle litle star from beginning to end unaided.
Hope everyone is well xx

soontobefatnat · 20/06/2012 11:39

Name changes? Ladies, I am a woman of habit! You are confusing me!! Stop it!!

Mamma congratulations! What a fab birth story. I'm having (another) homebirth and I'm reeeally hoping that I have the baby at night and E can just wake up like any other morning and we can jump into family life straightaway - sounds like you had just that! Brilliant. Sorry to hear about the tear and sore boobs though. Hope both heal up quickly. How's little one sleeping?

And lovely to have Fioled drop in too. We too think of Belle often in this house. Can't believe two years has gone so fast. Lovely to hear your updates on Xander - watch out! Once they take to moving, it never stops!!

Due in just under five weeks and have my big homebirth midwife appointment on Monday. I feel oddly nervous about labour this time. It went so well last time and I felt so calm and well prepared... this time, I feel tired, achy, unfit and like I haven't really thought about it at all. Confused

MaidenDevon · 21/06/2012 07:55

Happy 2nd Birthday Belle. Hope you're having fun and eating lots of cake Smile

MakeTeaNotWar · 08/07/2012 16:20

Hi hi all - I couldn't find you for ages but here you are! Congrats mamma wonderful news! Did you find a difference between first and second labours?

Nat how was your homebirth meeting? I'm coming up to 29 weeks now and went to a homebirth workshop last week, am really excited about it. S was born in a standalone birthing centre so I figure I know what I'm in for in terms of being with midwives only, pain relief options etc. Had a bit of scare last week though - was away at an overnight sales conference and came down with what I suppose was food poisoning. I was so poorly my lovely manager drove me back to Brighton and in the middle of slow-moving traffic on the M4 in his smart Audi, I threw up all in my handbag and realised I was sitting in a puddle so thought my waters had gone! Spent 9 hours being monitored on the labour ward and they concluded it wasn't my waters... thankfully....but I can't tell my manager that I must have weed in his car from the force of throwing up Blush. I was severely dehydrated though and had too many ketones in my urine so had 2 litres by IV as baby's heartbeat a bit too fast. All is well know and LO continues to have a party in there. 8 weeks left of work!!

Lovely to hear from you fioled, I often think of Belle x

MaidenDevon · 09/07/2012 18:55

Hello lovelies, toddlers and bumps in various stages of cooking. That sounds like a bit of a scare Tea, hope everything goes well for the rest of your pregnancy.

We've had chicken pox - well F did, I've had it already and we're waiting to see on DH as he's not had it yet... Not too bad, she wasn't as bad as some of the pics I'd seen on the internet, and Piriton and Virasoothe seemed to work quite well. She was a bit grumpy for a few days and was off nursery for a week - more holiday used by DH, Me and my lovely mum. I have 3 days left for the rest of the year, so please God she doesn't come down with anything too serious before 2013!

Less than 4 weeks to her birthday now (02/08), no party this year, too much hassle! Sleeping is getting better all the time, only a couple of minor wakings in the night, and she's actually slept through a couple of times which feels like the ultimate in luxury to me at the moment.

Finally got round to downloading the photos from my laptop to the iPad and there are over 3000 of F Blush I can't bear to delete any of them, even rubbishy eyes half closed not even looking at the camera ones. It sounds a bit morbid, but I think if anything was to happen to her I would want every photo I could lay my hands on of her. Sad

Right, bath time is drawing near (actually shower time because she likes pretending she is being Fireman Sam...)

Take care all.

soontobefatnat · 10/07/2012 22:28

Hullo, hullo!

Lovely to hear from you Tea, although sorry to hear about the scare. Hope it all goes smoothly from here, before you head off on mat leave. We're pretty much all set for homebirth number 2! The only thing that's just a bit up in the air is what exactly we do with E, depending on what time/day I go into labour. It's all a bit overcomplicated (different scenarios for if I go into labour at night versus daytime when we do/don't have childcare, or if it's a weekend)... that aspect of things is stressing me out a bit. Ideally, I'll go into labour in the late afternoon, style it out until E's bedtime, put him to sleep in his cot, then go and push a baby out in the front room, and we can all cosy up in bed together, the four of us, in the morning. Hmmm, any takers on whether it'll work out like that or not?

Anyway, homebirth certainly isn't for everyone, but I have to say, Tea, we had a BRILLIANT experience the first time round - fabulous one-to-one support the whole time and all the comforts of home helped me to relax fully in a way I couldn't have imagined doing in hospital. Alas, we had to transfer into hospital afterwards, but that's because E decided to come out with his hand up by his head and tore me asunder! Needed quite a lot of fixing up. But that was n'owt to do with the homebirth. I say go for it!! They monitor you and the baby just as much as when in hospital, and you get better one-to-one care, so if they have any worries, you'll be taken in straightaway. Good luck!

Devon brilliant to hear that things are looking up on the sleep front!! Fantastic news! We're also on chicken pox watch here - a week to go until we know that E hasn't got it (he was exposed a few weeekends ago). It would be AWFUL if he got it and we had a newborn in the house. And I hear you about running out of holiday due to a sick kid - I took a couple of weeks off this year in total, and I'm a part-timer! I had no idea.

Well, I'm 38.5 weeks along now, so perhaps the next time I post, I'll have some exciting news for you all! Much much love to all - and please keep posting!! x

MakeTeaNotWar · 12/07/2012 10:02

Ooh thanks Nat the more I read and talk to people about a homebirth, the more excited I am. What bits of kit did you find essential - do you get dustsheets etc? We've bought a pool from ebay and got a new liner to go with, have stacks of towels and sheets in the airing cupboard, got a handheld mirror, need a bright lamp.....

soontobefatnat · 12/07/2012 18:47

Tea cheap, disposable sieve for getting rid of various unmentionables, bucket (to help empty pool after), brand new hose and tap connector thing (make sure it fits your tap!!). We got dust sheets but it really wasn't that messy. Old sheets and towels were sufficient - but you might feel differently if you have glamourous white carpets or something Wink. Frankly, the best thing for me was having two hot water bottles on hand for DH to hold against my lower back as that's where I had a lot of pain. Drinks and snacks for you and the midwives... Exciting!

sparkle101 · 26/07/2012 16:32

Wow, I didn't come back to the thread as I was worried I wouldn't be able to catch up! LOL..... this is the pace of thread I like!

Congrats dogwalker on baby number two. I am very Envy we have plans to start TTC in the next couple of months but I am desperate now! Even though I had morning sickness through the whole of the last pregnancy and didn't have a great time with the worry I am literaly desperate again!

Isabelle is two soon and we're still not walking! She has been diagnosed as being hypermobile and so is behind in all things movement related, each week brings another appointment whether its for that, or her kidneys or occupational therapy... still I'd only be bored otherwise!!! Apart from that she is a really happy child.

Good luck nat. It does appear I am one of the only August graduates with no second child. Best get trying.

I worry when I have finished posting no one will reply, I cannot and will not be held accountable for killing this thread! Choccie cake for eveyone that comes back!!!!

MakeTeaNotWar · 26/07/2012 17:02

Choocie cake please! Only if it's ice ice cold - I am sweltering and at 31 weeks now, not exactly dealing gracefully with the heatwave.

Can't believe our LOs are turning 2! Bonkers! Yes sparkle come on, start SWI!

MaidenDevon · 26/07/2012 23:48

Cake for me as well please!!

This weather reminds me so much of the weeks before Felicity was born - I was laid like a beached whale on our hammock sunning myself and drinking iced lemonade by the bucketful. She's 2 next week - eek! Nothing sorted for her birthday yet and we're up to the in laws tomorrow night until the day before her birthday, so we'll have to get her card and presents sorted up there to bring back with us.

You're not the only one without a second baby Sparkle, I'm hoping if I ignore it for long enough DH will forget about it, it's a HUGE elephant in the room for us at the moment. He wants another, I don't. I love F soooooooo much I can't imagine another baby, I just want to be grateful for what we've got now after a really tough first year. She is an absolute joy now. She is a text book Dr Sears 'high need' baby, but I wouldn't change her for the world. Saying all that, I was going through some of her old baby bits to take up to DSIL who has a 3 month old and there were a couple of outfits i just couldn't part with and thought, wouldn't it be nice to have another one, but 99% of the time i don't want another one - I'm sooooo confused and i need to decide soon, am getting decrepit and Mother Nature may end up making the decision for me if i procrastinate much longer. Good luck for your TTC though Smile and hope Isabelle continues to make progress.

F is such a little chatter box now, she repeats everything I say - heard her telling the dog to bugger off the other day when he was mithering her for some toast she had in her hand - I must watch what I say in front of her now...Blush she's so polite as well, lots of pleases and thank yous even when not entirely appropriate i.e. I ask her if she'd like to stop watching Peppa Pig so we can get dressed and she says 'No thank you mummy, I stay here please' what can I say? Grin

Hope things have gone OK for Nat she must have had her little one by now or be pacing the floor waiting for it!

Much love to all xx

soontobefatnat · 31/07/2012 03:19

Hello all! Popping on to say that I finally had the baby last night! 8 days late - even later than Eli! It was awful being overdue in the heat but, on balance, I'm glad I didn't have to labour when it was 30 odd degrees!

Anyhoo, we have another little boy, 9lbs, and we've called him Linus. I had him at home - without the pool as our bloody boiler decided to act up! - and it was all over in 6 hours. I had a sweep yesterday morning and it turns out I was wandering around already 5cm dilated and yet not in labour. Very weird!! Brilliant midwife got me through a very hectic 2nd stage with only a tiny tear. Really chuffed about that. Aside from the fact that he sleeps all day and feeds all night (like his brother) family life seems pretty normal. I was fairly worried about how Eli would react to a new baby in the house, but he's being really sweet. Fingers crossed it continues!

Love to all xx

MaidenDevon · 31/07/2012 07:03

Great to hear from you Nat welcome to the worls baby Linus, what a great name! 5cm without realising it, how did you manage hat? I thought I was dying at 2cm!

Enjoy snuggling up with the 4 of you x

MakeTeaNotWar · 31/07/2012 21:15

Congratulations nat fabulous news! Eek am I next from our old group? 32 weeks now!!

sparkle101 · 02/08/2012 16:51

Many congrats nat I am v jealous of 5cm and not aware. I was so proud when I got to 3cm with no drugs, so much so I took whatever I could after that!!!

I knew choccie cake would get you back.... well that and nat's shiney new baby!!!

bellygazing · 02/08/2012 17:00

Quick pop in to say hi to the new arrivals - hope everyone is feeling blissful! So exciting... Sorry for long absence, work has been pretty hellish and my parents have had a series of injuries (ruptured achilles tendon followed by a possible fractured sternum) which has played havoc with childcare arrangements and left us stony broke. I keep trying to post now and again but Mumsnet keeps swallowing it!

Not much to report here, no bumps or babies, but I've got about four weeks of the pill left and I'm not planning to get any more... DH not entirely sure about TTC right now because of stony brokeness, but I know deep down he wants it. we will find a way to cope...

Love to all

MarzipanAnimal · 06/08/2012 13:36

Congratulations nat! :) Hope things are all going well and Eli's adjusting well to having a new baby brother. I may be getting a tiny bit broody now Grin (though still not planning to ttc til next year)

We're having our first night away from J this week - to go to the Olympics! I hope he doesn't miss us too much, but he's been fine every time Mum and Dad have looked after him so far so I think it'll be ok.

MaidenDevon · 10/08/2012 15:18

Hope we are all enjoying the lovely weather! Am at work, but have balcony door open and sea view so can't complain too much.

Do we have a rush of birthdays soon? F turned 2 last week. We had 2 parties (inlaws and my parents - competetive grandparentling at it's best, we didn't have to do anything).

Sleeping is still going well - she maybe wakes once about 2am for a drink of water (especially in this hot weather), but then sleeps until about 6.30am. Will think about moving her into her own room after our holiday in 6 weeks(yes, we're still co-sleeping, but I actually don't mind it as I am working 4 days a week and I love waking up with her giggling and smoothing my face) Nearly makes me forget the hellish first year (but not quite yet...)

Ooooh, am loving the Olympics as well, not normally into sport but really enjoying it - going to bed too late and checking the medals table. I actually cried at the athletics last Saturday nights.

As an aside - do any of you ladies Tweet? I know Caz does and I follow her, as well as posting my own musings - thank the Lord I'm restricted to 140 characters on there!

I'm leaving some Cornish clotted cream ice creams with flakes in here if you want one - be quick before they melt. Love to all. x

MakeTeaNotWar · 13/08/2012 10:05

Yes yes to the ice-cream sounds amazing Devon! S turns 2 on the Bank Holiday Monday and I am just too prego to be bothered with a party....I reckon this will be the last year I get away with it though as she knows only too well what presents and cake are! But we'll have her little cousins round and her granny so no doubt we'll have cake and balloons and a little celebration all the same.

I finish work Sep 7 and about time too as am at the achy hips / sore pelvis stage of late pregnancy exhaustion.

Devon I do tweet but in disguise as Westdene Butchers which is my husband's business (and I'm veggie ho ho ho) - what's your name?

We've just come from a weekend at Wilderness festival which was loads of fun and very family friendly - the weather helped enormously of course! Portaloos and inflatable mattresses at 34 weeks, I must be mad.....

MaidenDevon · 17/08/2012 14:04

Surprisingly I tweet as MaidenDevon (too tired to think of anything else!) Grin

DH and I had a chat about "number 2" and much to my surprise he says he's kind of liking the idea of us just having F leaving it at that, but we'll make a final decision in the new year. I cannot express how much I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now, just how to tell the MIL (to stop all the "F needs a little brother or sister" comments - she's got 6 other grandchildren!). My parents will be fine about it (F is their only GC) - they know how hard I found F as a baby (of course she's an absolute delight now).

So it's my birthday this weekend, and I'll be the ripe of age of 37, so call Fireman Sam, I'm leaving some birthday cake on the side. x

soontobefatnat · 18/08/2012 21:55

Ooh! Yes!! I bloody love twitter and am on it a shameful amount! Have just followed you chaps. I'm naatmoore (couldn't think of anything good name-wise). What's Caz's twitter name?

How was the Olympics Marzi? And did your first night away go okay?? I bet it did. Eli barely noticed with us (my practice labour run meant he went to the in-laws for a night, then again when I actually did give birth).

All going pretty well here. Like Eli, Linus has ended up with a tongue tie, so breastfeeding has again been a bit of a sodding palaver, but fingers crossed we'll get a referral to the tongue tie clinic at King's next week. It's sore but bearable... But L can be v windy/cross/distressed on the boob, which is rubbish. It also means feeding goes on a bit which makes it hard for me to be hands on with Eli. He's adjusted so well to the whole thing, but is turning into a naughty almost two year old. Bit lost as to how to 'discipline' him ( if that's the right word). Sort of dreading DH going back to work on Tues, but it has to happen sometime, right??

Much love to all xx

soontobefatnat · 18/08/2012 21:58

PS happy birthday Maiden hope you had a good one! Mine coming up this week, and DH, and then Eli on the 30th. Too many August babies in this family!

fioled · 21/08/2012 00:03

Well hello!

Twitter has directed me to come say hi! (Thanks nat and maiden !)

This really must be the slowest moving thread on the whole of MN! How is everyone doing? Lots of little babies again!?

Things are good here. 2012 has been such a beautiful year for us so far, we feel so blessed with X. He is amazing, he's such a happy little boy. 10 months old now and developing such a little character! I can't gush about him enough! He still isn't really bothered about crawling, I know he can do it but he just can't be bothered! He gets around by rolling mainly, and commando crawling when something really motivates him. He moves around quicker on his back actually, pushing his legs and arching his back, some sort of weird crab type movement! Always desperate to be on his feet and will take a few wobbly unsure steps when holding your hands, so maybe he is going to skip proper crawling and walk.

I'm busy planning his first birthday at the moment! I've no idea where these months are going! Nothing on the scale of what we did for Belle's 1st birthday and her fundraising day, but his birthday is such a huge deal for us, it may well be a bit OTT for a 1 year old! I'm thinking rainbow sponge for our rainbow baby :)

Hope everyone is enjoying August, and the rest of the babies turning 2! :) xxx

fioled · 21/08/2012 00:12

oh and for anyone else on twitter I'm @cazem if you want to keep up with me there!

MakeTeaNotWar · 21/08/2012 18:37

fioled I just tweeted you as Westdene Butchers (my husband's shop) but I do his tweeting for him. Used to be LCRLCR
