Oh poor you, Spot - how bloody awful. I don't know what they do about the pain of reflux - what are they saying?

I second what Sybs said about getting some help. I'd be keen to come down to Brighton at some point, when you're feeling ready for visitors!

DH didn't get home til 2am. DD2 up from 1am again til 3.30. But I managed to ignore a lot of it - she's just playing, damn it! Then again at 4.30 and DD1 up at 6.30. Not too bad.

I asked DH if his training was going ot continue at this pace after the marathon and he went off on one. HAHA! Defensive??! I will be having it out with him later as I miss him. Although after this morning, I was glad to be rid of him. So maybe should encourage it. HA! Tit.

I have chesty cough this morning, so am tempted to tell him to go on weekend away with the kids without me while I recover!

spot Bloody hell your having a tough time at the moment. I don't know how you manage to sound so together. I would be in pieces by now.
I do hope B gets to come home today. Am thinking of you.

Rubena · 05/02/2011 11:07

Spot, I hopt ds2 can come home today. Great that you got some sleep. How long did it take to get to me that time? I would happily drive to you as I guess it's not even an hour? but I'd have to unleash the kids at the door and that might be a bit much with your situation. I would guess you are at least a couple of hours from Jam.

Invis, YES Gambado is the soft play I was planning to go to with another friend in Chelsea (they have 3 I think) I forgot they have one in Watford. They look really great as they have a bar lot of nice things for kiddies to do. I can get the train to the one in Chelsea as it's on the line to Westfield, but would need to drive to Watford I guess. Glad to hear it's got thumbs up though.

Right one swimming lesson down. DD loves it! DS in a bit but luckily dh home again to take him as I'm knackered.

Lady I'm glad dp was ok about it. Gee what a hassle. Hope you get it ok.

Rubena · 05/02/2011 11:11

Beans, your dh has the life of riley. Take some time for yourself. I'm gonna start being much nicer to my dh when I'm tiredBlush

sybilfaulty · 05/02/2011 13:22

Thanks Vag for your support on the other thread. Hugely appreciated. I feel better about it now I'm not quite so knackered.

sybilfaulty · 05/02/2011 13:23

Oh and Beans, you have the patience of a saint! Think I'd have decked Andrew by now in your shoes.

Hope you are having a restful time in Sussex with your pals.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 13:26

Crikey Moses but you women can talk, I've just read through 5 pages, well actually 3, the first 2 I read last night but my phone battery ran out. We are at centerparcs, DS1 is way better and we are having a great time. DS2 had a bad sleep lastnight I think he misses his bed, kept waking up screaming, so I had to sleep in with him and DS1 & DH slept in together. But we've had a great morning and I'm chilling in the little house now as DS2 is napping and DS1 & DH are playing mini golf.

Spot I'm so sorry your dealing with so much. I completely find the medical belief what reflux is something minor quite annoying. For a baby feeding is their whole world. As well as nourishment, it provides cuddles time, pleasure from the sucking sensation and also an awareness of needing something and then communicating that need and then being heard and having the need satisfied. Poor B is having this all cause him pain. Loads of my special needs patients had reflex and its just terrible for everyone involved, but it is seen as 'just' reflux. I better stop now I might go off on one, I may have told one or ten registrars off in my time as they have brushed of my patients discomfort due to reflux. Luckily though we had a brilliant gastro consultant who always backed me up when I got the grumps about it.

Sybs I have commented on your thread, I held back as you will see. However, it was difficult, no one says my Sybs has a chip on her shoulder, but I took the higher ground and held back from calling anyone slags

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 13:36

Now Beans your DH is just taking the piss and clearly knowing he is doing so. I love competing but even when training for a seasons worth of triathlon or a marathon I never went running from 7-1! DH and I were very serious about our sport, during race season we didn't even drink alcohol, that's a lot coming from an Australian, but now we have kids that are small that has all taken a back seat, we still compete occasionally but our boys are only going to be young once.

Also I think the thing that I find most annoying about your DH is the fact that it is assumed that it is fine for him to go out and do what he wants. As much as it annoys me that there is a lot more planning required for me to go out to train than DH, and that if I miss my window of opportunity that's it, I still appreciate that he makes sure that I can do it. I know that part of the reason he does is because he likes me fit and slim, but he also likes me happy, and I'm happy when I train. But your DH seems to just up and go without asking, whereas you seem to have to ask. I think if he wants to be fit that's great but until the kids are older he needs to look at shorter distances like a 10km or even try doing a super fast 5km. Sprint training is a good intense workout but takes less time.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 13:46

Oh and Jam, the whole fitness industry is built around men and their love of going on about all the ins and outs of heart rates and cadence and yadda yadda. I think its hilarious that when I go to buy my cycling helmet there is one type of women's helmet but there is like 10 different men's helmets. Fitness kit and bits for guys is like the fashion or make up industry for women. But boys just don't realise its all a bit unnecessary they still buy it all. The men's 35-40year section in triathlon is hilarious, they all have the best bikes, shoes, wetsuits, the prettiest trisuits and they all compete with their heartrate monitors on. So funny. Way too much money to spend.

waitinggirl · 05/02/2011 14:25

spot - you poor lamb. not to mention T, B and DP. all love to you - alas, am not really in the running for coming down to brighton as will be 38 weeks on tues, but am thinking of you. it will pass... it too will pass...

invis - great advice, thanks.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 14:50

Hey SL would you consider doing this on your road bike. DH and I have just been watching one of these races whilst waiting for the Arsenal game on a Belgium channel.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 15:07

WG meant to say, that women is right in what she says but I think stopping from lying down the whole labour is not right. I think you tend to go into the position you want to be in. I guess I was lucky in that no one told me I had to lay down, however until about 20 mins before DS2 was born I spent a lot of time in a reclined position against the side of the pool, so with pressure on the sacrum. This position would have to put more contrition on the bit she was talking about than laying down. I suddenly wanted to stand and also get out of the pool, maybe this was the time when the head was in that bit and it was doing the expanding thing she was talking about. I ended up on the birth stool for him which was great, but with DS1 the MWs wouldnt let me birth him on the stool, they were into the all fours thing as it reduces tearing. However, tore with DS1 but not with DS2.

I think Invis' advice is best you need to have the birth you want in your head but you need to be flexible. I would say though WG if it does end up as a emcs either keep away from smug natural birth lady, or just let her witterings wash over you, she will be enjoying the sound of her own voice, just let her. You have the most beautiful girl in your little DD, and you will soon have another beautiful LO. You have also got all of us who value your presence in our lives, does she have all that.

urbanewarrior · 05/02/2011 17:06

Hello all
I've tried to post a couple of times this week from phone and failed - sorry. Yet again really busy at work and this week I had to go out for dinner with the new team. Really made it clear different generation - should be careful what you wish for. Was like dinner with godparents. And lots of chat about working at the Treasury in the 1990s and where bufty tufftington is now Grin. I shouldn't be mean. They're nice really. And am supposed to be catching up on work now. Ho hum. Sybs I commented on your other posts. Some of those people. Jeez.

Spot I really feel for you and wish there was more I could do to help. Your thing about the empty cot was heart wrenching. You sound like you're doing well but it must be really worrying. I really hope your DS2 is home today. Poor lamb. You can remind these boys of yours when they're strapping teenagers of the trouble they put you too Smile

Beans I don't know how you cope with your DH. Children shared enterprise in ours. Does massively help that we've both been at home and been at work so we have some sympathy. I do more now (ha ha I "manage" the nanny and have a day at home) but that's more from my choice because I don't want to work F/T. Both of us have stopped doing loads of things we did pre-DC - DH is really good at sport and loves it and barely gets to play any more. In fact I'm the one usually nagging him to go and do it. I think it's normal to split the work - and that if you're at home all the time you need even more of a break.

Wg chocolate raisins were good for me. Yum and then I wondered (after DS) why it took me a while to lose the PG weight when I was still eating a packet a day Smile.

LadyT & Rubes are you still at RFH on Mon? I'm working - terrible day am interviewing all day - but I might be able to sneak off at lunch time. Will be sans DC but will be lovely to see yours Smile

Vag hope you're still having a lovely time at centre parks. Better actually do some work. DCs downstairs and I can hear DS shouting along to Katy Perry. We had his birthday party weekend before last at the acquarium. Would be well up for another trip in the holidays. Check out shark cake on profile...

Rubena · 05/02/2011 20:07

Vag Glad you are having a nice time. Read your part to dh about money spent on bikes and and gear - he says you're spot on, and usually they're all show and no go. (mind yu just quietly, he's totally all about matching lycra and wot not - hilarious as he couldn't give a toss what he wears every day Hmm he's never been "proper" clothes shopping since I've known him.... he wants a power meter though, and I must admit he has made several comments about guys with them who have no power to actually measure, and my bro has suggested that dh has got what it takes when he's at peak fitness (which isn't now by any stretch as his training has gone to pot since the kiddies arrived (take note MrBeans)

Beans ditto what Vagola said about your dh - he needs to pull his head in. I was starting to think I am a total bitch to dh after reading your posts, but I'm confident that it's not me in the minority. as vag pointed out, he does seem to do as he pleases whereas you need to basically lock him into a time to mind the dc's and get it in triplicate! Not on for the father of the kiddies I'm afraid.

Yay got our new toy! Went and tried out a few bike trailers today down in Hampshire, and they were a big hit with both adults and littles Grin really liked the Chariot (it's the Daddy of the trailers) but dh had done loads of research and we decided to go with the Croozer. Kids loved it, I found it surprisingly easier to tow than I thought, it has a mahoosive storage section for my cheerfulness and picnic stuff so Richmond Park beckons in the Summer GrinWine as does the pub along the tow path Wine And I may even get fit while doing so as a family! The kids were grinning from ear to ear the whole time. After baths tonight dh set it up again which I warned against so close to bed time, and as predicted we had 20 mins at least of screaming from ds after I surgically removed him from it!

Right, we are sold on a "Gite" ala vagolafamily style for a Summer holiday now that we have the trailer. Might have to have a mini meet up Vag if we get something nearby Grin

Right, some more Wine is calling...

Rubena · 05/02/2011 20:09

Urbs YES - def on - I will prob be sans kids too - however could be glass of cheerfulness positive Grin Love to see you Please come!

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 21:15

Oh Rubes I do have a fair of funky lycra. My fav is my complete matching set of Dama Bianchii kit, which also matches my bike. I also have a cool cycling top I bought in the Chianti region in Italy which has the authentic Chanti symbol with rooster on it. It all looks good when your slum but currently I look like an Easter egg in my cycling kit. That would be so cool if you guys were in France too. You should consider coming to Paris for the last day of the Tour.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 21:19

Hi Urbs and happy birthday to your lovely DS, he is so sweet. He and DS1 would have been such good mates I'd we still lived at South Quay.

JollyBear · 05/02/2011 21:21

Hello everyone,

ladyT Thankyou so much for the parcel Smile. It was really very kind of you. I'm now equipped with breast pads, towels, nappies and a few lovely smellies. I was a bit tearful when I opened it, it really is so thoughtful of you. Fingers crossed the immersion heater is working!

spot How awful for you all. I hope B came home today and is on some better medication. It must be dreadful to have such pain. Could your mum perhaps stay in a B&B so she can help out during the day but you get a break from one another in the evening? Then she could stay longer and you'd get more of a break.

JJ We're going down a more anatomical route private part wise with DD. Vulva or vulvie for short. Thankfully DD hasn't sung any songs about it yet!

trace You should be celebrating how much you have achieved in a day, e.g. making tea, not devaluing it! You sound like you are doing well, be proud of yourself.

SL Hurray for DD taking a bottle! Fantastic news. Hope you enjoy your night out.

beans I share the feeling of having to plan 'time off' way in advance. It sounds like you are having to do lots of the evening and weekends on your own though which is very tiring. When your DH has done his race, you need some time off.

syb I can't believe they asked you that question! Glad you got some good advice on your thread in the end.

WG I'd take lots of snacks with you as you might not like the look of the meals. Ritz crackers are good for a little burst of salty and sugary energy.

zoe Hope you didn't suffer too much after all the Wine Wine Wine

rubes Really pleased to hear your brother is OK. It was horrible to see all the tearful people on the news packing up their stuff. Very scary.

veggie How lovely to be getting a cat. Although, just a word of caution, getting two adult cats who don't know each other might be slightly tricky. It depends if they have had feline companions before, also two adult males (even when neutered) don't tend to make happy housemates.

The growth scan was all fine, BP stable, protein level increasing but not to a level where they need to intervene, so all good. I'm starting to feel like piggy in the middle between my various medical teams though. My transplant consultant has suddenly decided it would be better for me to deliver in Birmingham (where they are based) Hmm. The renal people I saw think I should go to St Marys in Manchester and my own consultant thinks I should stay where I am. I'm tempted to tell them I've decided against having another c-section and I'm having a waterbirth at home Grin. That'll stop them squabbling Wink.

Rubena · 05/02/2011 21:27

Oh yes Vag dh knows the Chianti Classico Jersey well... but it never came with a set of matching bibs as far as he knows, nevertheless I tried to steer him towards an AIS/Santini/Australia kit but his eye for an ultra bargain prevented him from commiting to it!
he's very keen for the last day of the tour. What are your dates / plans etc. Perhaps if we were gite-ing somehwere nearer to it, you guys could have a sleepover Grin he was wondering about the kids etc as he says it's a lot of standing around. Tour went last time - right? How did it go? I remember seeing pics and it looked great!

Rubena · 05/02/2011 21:56

Vag - "You went" not "tour went" obviously

Hello Jolly,
Oh dear what a lot of tug of war. Shame they can't all have a chat, agree, and then stop making you feel like it's one against the other isn't it. Tell them that just to see the look on their faces!

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 21:56

No but it looks quite nice with black bike shorts or bib. Last year we watched it on the tulleries as it goes down one side and up the other, it goes past like 9 times and it is easy enough to get a good vantage point. It meant that if the kids got bored we could take turns watching the tour while they played in the play area on the tulleries. Also there was a fun fare which I imagine is on every year. There are 2 intermittent sprint sections during the 9 laps so that makes it quite exciting. Also we managed to get a little viewing spot near what eventually became the flamme rouge so extra special. In the end the boys quite enjoyed it, the crowd is great and it is quite exciting watching them all whizz past.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 21:59

JB glad your BP has settled, um should'nt the consultants be considering what's best for you as far as proximity to your home etc. Your having a baby, not delivering your liver or kidneys, shouldn't the priority be to be nearer the gynea. Where did you deliver last time?

JollyBear · 05/02/2011 22:12

Hello vag! I delivered at Bolton last time so I'm very confused about the sudden idea about transfering me. Apparently it has nothing to do with my BP/protein issues but because of the risk of the blob of spleen I have left (which apparently was accidentally left behind Shock), might rupture. I've always known I had this blob of spleen but rupture was never mentioned when I was having DD or when I saw them 3 weeks ago Confused.

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 22:21

It's possible a recent scan has shown up that its a bit dodgy, but its also possible they are making it up, not quite sure why though. Either way its not going to make any difference where you are, as long as the team in the hospital you are under is aware they can deal with it. Really your gynea and you should be making the decision.

Did you get any help with the meds & BF ishoo?

vagolaJahooli · 05/02/2011 22:45

JB thanks for the warning on the cats Wink is it worth.posting a question on MN about settling cats into a new home and with each other. DH has a dutch friend who has a rescue home for cats in the Philippines (his wife is filipino) so he might know, but thought there was a pet section on MN. Might have a look about.
