beautiful name WG, especially approve of the middle one Wink

I wasn't allowed to do ballet or horseriding as a nipper so will be insisting that these two do both Grin

E has been a bit of a pain at nights - feeding lots in the evening, then basically refusing to feed at night - I know I should be grateful really but the last two nights she's had some at midnight, then from 2 am til about 5.30 has been very very noisy, snorting and harumphing and wriggling lotsa, but refusing any boob. She doesn't seem to be awake as when I put on the side light to try and latch her on, eyes are definitely shut. So I'm awake because of the noise but can't persuade her to feed - she's goung a very long time without milk then is ravenous come the morning. Anyone know if this is likely to affect my milk supply? Am also knackered,, managed to get an hour's sleep this morning with her resting on my chest (bad bad mum!) but otherwise it's feeling like about 3 hours a night. Yawn...

Beans33 · 25/02/2011 13:59

Oh JJ - how exhauasting for you. How old is she now? Sorry, am crap at date remembering!!! Would you be willing to move her to another room so you can get some sleep between those hours? It's really tough isn't it? I think your milk supply will fall into its own routine according to when she feeds.

WG - my beautiful name comment was directed at you, not Spot, although of course Billy is a gorgeous name too! Emily is DD2's middle name as well.

xx

WG beautiful names. I love Georgia.

JJ blimey thats a bit knackering earplugs might help drown out her snuffling.

Beent to the evil that is Lakeside today to take the boys to the cinema with their friends. We saw Gnomio and Juliet very good. Bit of wagamamas for lunch. Was going to try and have a mooch round the shops but overtired boys put paid to that.

Has anyone heard anything about the price of oil. Dh works for BP and there are lots of rumors that because of whats happening in Libya that the cost of petrol & diesel is going to go up another 5p per litre. Shock It is getting to the hundred mark to fill our car up tis ridiculous.

zoejeanne · 25/02/2011 17:42

Gorgeous names WG, my goddaughters have those names

Sorry to hear of all if those struggling with sleep. I have a fb friend who is thrilled that her 3mo is 'finally' sleeping through, tis great for her but I couldn't quite being myself to 'like' her status Envy

Not impressed with the oil news Jam, my commute is an 80 mile round trip and DH does 50k+ miles a year for work, so fuel is already a huge part of our outgoings. Huff. Did your DSs enjoy the film? I can't imagine DD paying attention to anything longer than Come Outside

urbanewarrior · 25/02/2011 18:16

lovely baby news. so pleased for wg, katie and jolly. Wg so glad doula helped you and sorry to hear cs was tricky - must have been worrying.Lovely lovely names. And jolly that is a good weight - I really hope you and she are recovering well.

Bad day here as DS is being a nightmare. I really think there is something wrong with him as he looks really pale and has been grumpy for weeks. Think i'll drag him to drs next week. have currently retired to bed so I don't go crazy at him. Am shattered from him being a complete pain all day - we went to friend's house and then the zoo and he was pretty awful the whole time and the two of them cried all the way back in the car. I could really do with a break. Feels like an age since we had any kind of holiday - what with mc over christmas that didn't really do it. BIL is being a complete idiot as well which isn't helping so in general am feeling really fed up. Moan moan moan moan. Grin. Hope you have more exciting friday nights planned. Think I'm going to just stay here.

EffiePerine · 25/02/2011 18:30

Urbane: we have beer and will order a curry. Another night in chez nous. Re DS, it might be age rather than illness - DS1 is so touchy at the moment and swings between wanting to batter everything and everyone and wanting endless cuddles cos he's worn himself out. Hope he settles down soon, then you can give me some pointers!

WG: fab name and goes really well with R :)

Artichokes · 25/02/2011 19:18

I think I will join you in bed Urbs. By which I mean I will join you in going to bed rather than actually join you in your bed. I'm knackered. We had a lovely day out at the Wetlands Centre and lunch with a friend at a pizza place but DD2 skipped her nap and I paid for that come 5pm. Sorry your DS is acting up. I do think they have phases. DD1 has runs of good and bad behaviour.

WG, lovely names. I hope you are recovering well.

Anyone been to see Tangled this half term? I want to take DD1 but don't know if it's age appropriate. She found Toy Story 3 too much...

I seriously am going to bed. It's 7.16pm. How embarrassing. I mean I will read for a bit but still. What have Friday nights become?

sybilfaulty · 25/02/2011 20:02

WG, I love Georgia and would have had it for DD2 had her surname not started with a J. I hope the meeting with R went well and that you are feeling good with your 2 girls.

How are things with you, Jolly? Do you have a name yet? Lots of names go well with L. I hope you are recovering well and DD2 is getting stronger by the hour.

Urbs, you really have had a time of it lately. IS there anyone who could have the kids overnight to giv eyou a break? Even if you didn't go anywhere, a nice supper adn a good sleep / lie in might help you feel a bit more rested. It's a long time to be on the go without a break, and sick children are exhausting. I wouldn't worry about the shouting as I am sure he won't remember. That's what I tell myself anyway as I am partial to a bit of light shouting myself, especially when tired. Huge hugs to you.

Arti, we've not done tangled yet but might do tomorrow. If so I'll report back.

Jam, the petrol thing is horrendous. I put in £4o on Tues expecting my dial to swing round to full and it was barely half! Awful. As I am mainly town driving, I really burn through it as well. Shocking.

How is the new house Vag?

All in bed now and I am just revving up to finish the dinner. I have made posh salads (oh, get me!) to go with the roast chicken and baked pots. Hope DH gets home at a reasonable hour. I am knackered today too. Rest well lovely ladies.

vagolaJahooli · 25/02/2011 20:12

WG lovely names, wasn't Georgia a name Rubes wanted. It does sound really nice with Dd1's name.

JJ your supply will be fine as long as she is dictating when she feeds and you aren't topping up or expressing your boobs and her will sort it out. I'm not sure on the farm noises. Could be wind but it lasts a long time. It also could just be her, didn't someone else on.here have a noisy newborn.

PD I've spent the afternoon saying 'drawing' over and over in my head and I'm convinced I'm in. your bad black book now. I didn't realise a say drawring, but I think I do.

Completely shattered. Spent the morning unpacking, but still loads to do. then went to IKEA in the afternoon and early evening and bought a new cabinet for the TV and the boys bunk bed (& a couple of other things we didn't know we needed). We are both snotty and sniff but thankfully I just unpacked the scotch so we can hit the hot toddys again. DH found a honey with mint in it so it really clears the head.

right ds2 asleep (or should I say the screaming banshee, please let these be the last of his fangs to come through), so I'd better crack on and get some more unpacking finished.

pd how us the new job & home.

Arti what happened with the pushchair sale on gumtree? How is packing getting on, or are you getting packers in?

vagolaJahooli · 25/02/2011 20:16

Oops cross posted hi Sybs, mmm yummy roast spuds.

Forgot to say thinking of you Urbs. I shout at poor DS1 and feel bad for it too. I think my two need a good dose of sunshine abductionand running around. DS1 seems pale lately too. He has been unwell though.

vagolaJahooli · 25/02/2011 20:17

Abduction??? How did that slip in there Blush

waitinggirl · 25/02/2011 20:23

Can I ask some advice, lovely ladies? G has slept and slept both last night and during today. She has barely fed. When she does get round to feeding she is a champion chomper. Should I be worried? I tried to wake her up after 4 hours for a feed but it was nigh on impossible. I mean. I'm grateful, but don't want to get caught up in sleepy baby losing too much weight and getting jaundiced cycle. Ideas?

Artichokes · 25/02/2011 20:30

WG - when I had dd2 my supply was so plentiful that in the first few days she would feed for only about 10 mins and the conk out for hours. I was convinced she wasn't getting much and would lose more than 10% of her weight. When she was weighed at day 5 she had put on 3 ounces Shock. She never even lost an ounce. So it maybe there is nothing to worry about.

EffiePerine · 25/02/2011 20:34

WG: I remember both DSs being very sleepy for the first couple of days. They were both fast feeders as well.

Rubena · 25/02/2011 21:24

Just quickly... as I have a wedding to get ready for Grin WG - great name - yep Vag it was in my top 3 but DH wasn't keen. I love it.
WG dd and ds both very sleepy for first 2 days. CS babies don't need to feed as much in the first couple I was told, so don't worry. Something to do with the lack of stress on them being born. Since they are just lifted out Hmm wheras vag born babies do quite a workout and are starving - not quite the medical explanation but I know what I mean!

SummerLightning · 25/02/2011 21:38

Yep wg both mine quite chilled and sleepy for the first couple of days too. I would keep trying to feed when you get a chance but try not to worry too much and make the most of it and rest (they were a pain at about day 4 both of them if I remember rightly, but I think my milk was not in!) Come to think of it, will they actually be getting that many calories from you anyway given it will just be cololstrum at the mo? (not to say that it isn't important!). Oh and lovely name! How are you feeling?

SummerLightning · 25/02/2011 21:43

Oh and jj that does sound a pain re E. DD also used to party in the night, but she would feed too. Basically she slept for ages at a go day and night until about 6 weeks, (prob about 3-4 hrs at a go) but would then be awake 2 hrs at a go. She would also be happy in bed half awake just making roaring noises (in fact she still does this!). Most annoying when she was in our room, though predictably DH would sleep through it. Can't think what to suggest apart from another room, which isn't really ideal unless they are sleeping well, and also not recommended I know with SIDS and all that, or earplugs and trust you'll hear her if she's really wound up!

TheInvisibleHand · 25/02/2011 22:08

Hurrah for WG Katie JB and the feb 11 baby girls, lovely news (and lovely name *WG).

too knackered to post properly, but couldn't let those kind of events pass by.

vagolaJahooli · 26/02/2011 00:02

WG cs bubs do tend to be a bit sleepy the first day or so but it doesn't really interfere with feeding because bubs don't really need to feed much for the first day or so. SL is right most of the first BF feeds are a power house of protein and not much fats so what she gets with each feed is plenty for her as a newborn. Also her tummy is the size of a small marble so she doesn't need much to fill it and sustain herself. Just enjoy the rest while you can and at the risk of sounding like a sandal wearing, wholemeal lentil, trust her and your boobs to do what they need to do to nourish her. Has S met her yet? Have you bought a present for her 'from' G?

KiwiPanda · 26/02/2011 07:46

WG DD never ever fed for longer than 20 minutes at a time even during growth spurts etc so even when her stomach grows, hopefully she'll just be a speedy feeder! So happy for you btw, can't wait to see photos on FB!

Hope everyone else well. I have had tonsiliis, for which I was given penicillin. Which is now giving me horrible stomach problems. Agh! Am taking "friendly" bacteria but have days of the course still to go - any tips anyone??

vagolaJahooli · 26/02/2011 08:35

Kiwi DH takes a syllium husk thing which I think has the friendly bacteria in it too. But really It's just one of those things I think. They are nasty on all bugs but make you better so just hit the live yogurt and drink lots of water. Try not to have too many sugary foods until your tummy has settled.

JumpJockey · 26/02/2011 09:57

just to report that I went for the earplug solution and while she was still loud enough to wake me up when she was hungry, I did manae to get some decent sleep in between times and feel much less murderous this morning. Phew!

urbanewarrior · 26/02/2011 16:48

glad you had a better night jj. I am still in bed - feel absolutely shattered so have just stayed here while DH has had DCs. Blurgh.

Beans33 · 26/02/2011 18:35

Wowsers. Quiet!
Just popping on to say hi. Both DDs in bed. Smug, moi??!
DD1 starting not to have daytime nap and is exhausted by 6. DD2 is put to bed at 6.30 anyway. She's chirping away upstairs and I'm goggling the rugby. COME ON ENGLAND!!

hello.
urbane so sorry to hear you're feeling so crap. I really hope things pick up for you soon. You've had a really difficult run of things and I'd say you're due some happy times any time now.
Well I'm just popping on in what has become my usual fairly rubbish way, to give you the latest text from our jollyBear :
" Baby JB is doing ok. She came off oxygen briefly today and managed well for a while without. She's under lights as she went a bit jaundiced. I got the ok to breastfeed on my meds - thanks to vag for helping me with that! I'm finding expressing quite difficult, I'm not producing much but it's still early days. We held her for the first time today :)Still no decision made on her name! "
