Thought we should have a post-natal thread so we can stay together from our ante-natal one. Technically, DD was a December baby after coming early on new years eve; hope you don't mind if I stay with the January group after all this time. How is everyone doing?

thanks pelvic some nice dresses on babes with babies site - need to buy something from there just because of the name! Like the only white dress (not necessary going for white), but think it maybe a bit short, love one of the others (not for wedding though), have to find excuse to buy it :) Have seen a short length bridesmaid dress (not BFing), not strapless (what is it with wedding gear and strapless dresses/tops). We are going to Inverness in a few weeks, so I'll try a few things on then to get idea of what style suits and if normal works OK for BF without taking whole dress off. There is going to be four of us BFing (3 to whole day), so maybe we will just have to time feeds and head to my room!

commented on another thread. but hope your meds are helping beat

anyone else getting constantly asked re having another baby?

Hannah1890 · 18/05/2011 20:42

Well done with the reading pelvic Im trying to go over the stuff I did last yr but my concentration levels are just awful and also think Ive got left over baby brain.

not being asked about having another baby walkthedog more being warned to wait a little bit, very broody though with DS being so sweet but definitely going to finish my degree first. Anyone else got plans for another one? Think is lovely with such a small age gap but I imagine its crazy hard work!!!

DS sat up playing by himself for the first time on Monday, was absolutely amazed he just pulled himself up from leaning on me to play with his toys and since then he just seems to have got it.

WalkTheDog · 19/05/2011 09:52

Good going your DS Hannah. DD is getting good at sitting with a little occ help to rebalance. She still hates being on her tummy, so think rolling and crawling might take a while!

When wil you finish your degree Hannah? No plans for baby 2, we are so happy to have DD, but not ruling it out. DD not the easiest of babies, so think it would be pretty tough going if we had another baby similar to her and a toddler (oh and don't forget our slightly crazy dog!)

I decided to do my Davina post natal dvd the other day as I still have a 2 1/2 finger gap in my stomach muscles, but I find those pilates type exercises so boring. Tried running a very very short way with pram and dog - hah, we got quite a speed up and a bit out of control. DD was giggling.

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 20/05/2011 14:17

DS2 isn't really sitting yet, he kind of flops forwards slowly and eventually ends up face down and complains loudly. He's a chunky little chap so he's got a lot of weight to hold up, I won't be surprised if he's a late crawler, he spends lots of time on his tummy and makes the right arm and leg movements but holding his body up will probably be beyond him for quite a while!

No plans for any more here, I think 2 is probably enough for me. I find newborns adorable but I'm also quite looking forward to leaving the totally dependent stage behind, both DSs have been fairly unputdownable babies which makes this stage quite relentless. I don't think I could have done a shorter gap than 2.8 years without struggling although a lot of people seem to say shorter gaps are easier.

I've just had yet another vomiting bug, it must be around the 4th or 5th since DS1 was born. Spending today relaxing with DS2 while DS1 gets a good run round with Granny.

beatofthedrum · 21/05/2011 17:24

Wow, can't believe some babies are sitting already, ds not showing any signs of approaching that stage! He can roll though, and is so proud of himself, looks so surprised and delighted. He loves being on his tummy and just starts chuckling the minute he gets over. Walked into room today to find 3 year old dd rolling ds like a sausage across the floor saying 'look how good he is when I help him mummy!'!!!! I seriously left the ground in springing to his rescue!!
My feeding nightmare seems to be over, whew, I changed to the annoyingly awkward rugby grip and it's solved everything. Impossible when out and about but am getting home visit from BfN guru so hopefully issue will be resolved!!

CadleCrap · 21/05/2011 18:50

Hello all,

Bck from a fab holiday - did SOD ALL except swim and read books (I love my kindle). DS was entertained all day by the kids club and DD sat in a bouncy chair or on a towel in a pop up UV tent. I only had one night of over indulgence on the booze front despite it being all inclusive Grin.

DD has started to roll over (19 weeks) back to front but her arms get stuck underneath if she goes from front to back.beatofthedrum my 3 yo DS likes to "help" DD to roll as well

She is now 20 weeks and I am going to start weaning tomorrow - she was sleeping from 10- 5 or 6 but has started waking at 1am for another feed.

It is funny - with DS I couldn't wait until the next stage (rolling, weaning, sitting etc) but as I know DD is my last baby I want to keep her that way!!!

blanchedevereaux · 21/05/2011 20:23

Hi everyone,

Glad you had a nice holiday Cadle. How did the sleeping go at night? Were you all in the same room?

DD showing no signs of rolling (16 weeks), however, I am crap at putting her on her tummy. I was comparing her with pics of DD1 at this age who could support herself on her front on her elbows, DD2 just lies on her face. Really need to crack on with tummy time.

Potty training still going well though DD1 showing annoying habit of waiting until night nappy is on before doing a poo. Quite common, I believe.

DD2 still waking twice in the night here. However, she feeds quickly and goes back down so not too bad. Had to go to the dermatology clinic at the hospital as her skin was pretty itchy but she has had some mild steroids and it has improved it 100%. So pleased.

Looks like we have sold our house (fingers crossed)! Grin Been on the market since September. Been house hunting today - not really fun with a baby and toddler, you have to keep your eyes on DD1 at all times or she is picking up everyone's stuff! I am so paying someone to pack us up, move us and unpack, no matter what it costs!!!!

Hannah1890 · 21/05/2011 20:24

Finish my degree in 2013 walkthedog with everything going to plan anyway only a yr later than planned, having a nightmare trying to sort out childcare for September at the moment though. We were told yesterday by our favourite nursery that if DS was 2 they could help us out, as if we could just make him magically age! Good work on the running! I've been trying to swim 3 times a week but my motivation completely depends on DS having a good nights sleep, so a bit hit and miss at the moment!

poor you with the sickness bugs pelvic

haha your story made me laugh beat my youngest brother is 7 and he told me that when DS is a bit bigger he wants to do spartan training with him to make him strong... I imagine that that is exactly the sort of thing that would be happening. Going to have to keep an eye on him though because his spartan training on the kitten meant throwing it in the swimming pool.Although hes promised not to do that because apparently "humans are more precious". Good luck with the feeding!

holiday sounds lovely cadlecrap!

DS has been rolling front to back for a while but only learnt to go back to front yesterday and just happened to learn when he was lay on the bed whilst DH went to get a clean nappy! So rolled for the first time and fell off the bed! nightmare!! luckily it was first thing in the morning and hadn't had chance to make the bed so DS landed on a pile of pillows, still gave us all a shock! and definitely wont be leaving him anywhere by himself now!

CadleCrap · 22/05/2011 16:15

Well ..... weaning didn't go as planned! I put her in the high chair and she just slumped and slide down and looked so tiny that I didn't have the heart to shove a spoon in her mouth - perhaps she's not ready! I'll put up with the lack of sleep and try again in a week or so

blanche DS was wee trained at 22 months within 4 days - he only stopped doing poos in a night nappy a year later (luckily very few poos during the day when wearing pants). Hope you have better luck.

I have to share this...

I met a woman who had her placenta dried and made in to capsules that she takes 3 times a day like a vitamin. She swears by it - had no baby blues, milk was fine, skin, hair, uterus sharnk etc. I didn't have the heart to tell her I had no problems either and saved myself £170!! I also don't know any one whose uterus DOESN'T shrink. You DO NOT want to know what she had done with her umbilical chord.......Grin

WalkTheDog · 23/05/2011 14:22

Hi
Wild weather here. We usually go to bookbugs next to OH's work, but he phoned this am to say he'd almost got blown off his feet and some trees were down, so not to go. It has got worse since, so dog has been out for a pee, but no buggy walks today, scared ww might end up in the loch.

pelvic DD does that slow fall forward at times too! Hope you have got over bugs. DD and I have our 2nd cold in 2 weeks.

beat glad feeding getting better. And sorry but had to laugh at your DD helping DS roll. DD went from tummy to back a few times at wknd - big thing as up until then she hated being on her tummy. Still think it was more of unbalancing that rolling, but hey, we still are proud parents Grin

cadle Sounds like a fab holiday. yep does sound like DD might not be quite ready for feeding, but it is ok to give her some support with towel/cushion, to make sure she is upright. Seemingly it is very normal to have increase night feeds at around 4 months and they reckon food probably won't help. DD is wakening most nights four or five times. Luciklly she feeds quickly and we birth go back to sleep almost before lying down. She slept from 2am to 630 last night Grin

Each to their own, but yuk re placenta! Saw a family who kept each kid's placenta in freezer and then when kid was ?7, they took it out and planted it under a tree, circle of life I think.

yeh re house sale blanche. good luck finding new one.

still a bit of studying to do then hannah Big childcare issues her i.e. none! But I have no job to return to, so not a problem for me now. Yikes re DS rolling off bed. OH thinks I am overreacting when I say DD may fall/roll off things, will tell him your story to reinforce.

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 23/05/2011 20:38

beat glad feeding is going better and hope bfing counsellor can help you so it works even out and about. Nothing like a bit of toddler 'help' with the baby to improve your reflexes!

cadle my kind of holiday Smile, I like the idea of a kindle to read by the pool but worry about toddler splashing. Are they fairly hard-wearing? And is it really wrong that I want to know what that woman did with the umbilical cord? Wink

blanche well done for selling house, it's supposed to be a buyers market so hopefully this end will be easier. My friend moved when she only had 1 child and still says the £600 (ish) she paid for packers and movers was the best investment she ever made!

hannah glad DS was ok but must have been a bit of a shock, normally they wait until maximum damage can be inflicted before doing these things so he did well to land on pillows.

walk it's pretty blustery down here so I dread to think what it's like in the highlands!

Sickness bug was just a 24 hour thing, although I'd complain about how many I've had I seem to be building up some sort of resistance as they're less bad each time. So far no sign of DSs or DP catching it so I hope they've managed to avoid.

DS2 has been exceptionally smiley today Grin, he's had grins for everyone and it makes it all worthwhile. He's even been smiling for DS1 and up until now he's mainly looked nervous (with some justification) when DS1 gets affectionate. DS1 did nearly manage to catapult DS2 out of the bouncy chair while I was going to the loo earlier and DS2 just carried on beaming throughout.

superparty · 23/05/2011 22:49

hi all, its me superparty sorry its been so long, fecking computer trouble

just tried to catch up on the news, congratulations to you all on your babies,
mama eventually.

well I was the poster with 5 children and now have 6. baby boy louie robert joseph (excellent name deedee:)) was born the day after erins 1st birthday on the 27th january weighing 7lb 14oz (5 days late), started around 2am and managed to get to 6am woke hubby rang hospital (not very helpful saying they'd just send me home again if i was that far on) so held on till 8am and then had to go, 10 min journey and had 4 contactions on the way, was 5cm at 8.30, my dh is very squeamish at hospital so i always have my sister, but she lives in barnsley so takes her an hour and half to get here, checked again at 9.30 and was fully but sister not there, then everything seemed to stop, she arrived at 9.45 and i was falling asleep mw checked me and said he was just sat there waiting to be pushed out. so i thought what the hell couple of pushes later baby born at 10.10. was very naughty though didn't wait or control pushing when head was crowning (can't do that pant thing) so he flew out a bit shocked. luckily no stitches, intact placenta, minimal bleeding.

so today he will be 17 wks on thursday and has only just started sleepng from 7pm till 5am, wth!!!!!! he loves cuddling mummy, completely opposite to my fiesty 16 months old erin whos into everything, so super isn't as super as she should be as she is a bit knackered. if im truthful i think he's a bit mard. but if hes to be my last i want to cherish the cuddly bits. i only say if because if i win that lottery and can buy a big house and not work i'd have a couple more. i just can't ever imagine never being pg, giving birth and cuddling a newborn again, but i think my dh has had enough :)

i hope you are all doing well and i promise to try and post more often, i'm sure there must be enough hours in the day for 6 children, 2 cats, 2 rabbits and a mountain of washing, i don't need sleep, honest;)

superparty · 23/05/2011 22:51

have popped some pics on as well x

blanchedevereaux · 24/05/2011 13:29

Lovely pics Super. Glad you managed to join us. I find 2 is enough, don't know how you cope with 6! I thought my washing was bad enough!!!

CadleCrap · 24/05/2011 17:07

superparty welcome back Smile. I've name changed - was mummychicken. I think someone was trying to find you - WAAAAY back on this thread - dd they find you?

pelvic had it freeze dried and made in to a heart shape and framed Shock

PelvicFloors0fSteel · 25/05/2011 22:43

Welcome back superparty, you must be busy!

cadle Oh my word! And I worried that people would think I was overdoing it with the number of framed baby/toddler photos I had around the place, that takes things to a whole new level...

Hannah1890 · 30/05/2011 14:35

Wow superparty you must be busy! love the pics though.

love those days when DS is jst so smiley pelvic it is gorgeous.

DS has finally moved into his own room now that our flatmate has moved out, and trying not to get my hopes up but hes slept for 12 hours the past 3 nights! So hes obviously enjoying the peace and quiet :)

Anyone else finding clothes to be quite small/baby being big lol DS now in 6-9 month clothes and hes not even 5 months yet. He is a big boy though.

Hope everyones well and enjoying better weather than here! its extremely miserable so stuck in the house on a bank holiday... rubbish!

CadleCrap · 30/05/2011 15:43

Is anyone else beginning to lose hair?

blanchedevereaux · 30/05/2011 17:23

Yes, I did the same after my last pregnancy. Don't think I lost any through the pregnancy and now it is all over the place. I have a lot of hair though, fine, but a lot so I'm not exactly going bald.

Getting greyer by the day though. :(

PelvicFloors0fSteel · 30/05/2011 22:13

Weather has been pretty rubbish here but the one consolation is that DS2 has been able to wear one of DS1's winter suits, which I thought would never happen as they're born at opposite ends of the year so it'll be too small by winter. Every cloud has it's silver lining and all that... Smile

DS2 is also in 6-9 month clothes hannah, with an occasional 9-12 thrown in for good measure, I never managed to squish him into DS1's newborn clothes he was straight into 0-3 so not unexpected.

I'm also shedding hair everywhere and getting greyer (why am I not shedding more grey, that would be useful).

WalkTheDog · 31/05/2011 20:16

Hi superparty remember you from antenatal threads :) Would love DD to sleep from 7pm to 5am! But bet 5am wake up call not fun when you have a 16mth old too. OH is from a family of five, 7 years in total apart from first to last, but he is def not wanting to go down that line! Must have a look at your pics.

pelvic yep weather yuk on and off here and DD making more use of winter gear than I thought she might. My mum got her a brilliant fake sheepskin style snowsuit for £1, it is so toasty. DD in such a mix of clothes sizes, 0-9mths.

cadle no hair loss, but needing a major haircut, haven't had since Sept!!! Found my first grey hair about 2 months ago - had a fit..lol

hannah good going DS on 12 hours, def must be loving his own space.

CadleCrap · 04/06/2011 08:53

We seem to have gone very quite! Obviously enjoying the sun with out little 5 month olds Grin

WalkTheDog · 04/06/2011 18:36

only one real sunny day here, but it was lovely. We bought DD a swing using our clubcard vouchers, was double points on toys Grin. As we thought, she loves it.

Have tried on some dresses/outfits for wedding, but my boobs are just too big, anything that fits them is too big elsewhere. I have got a BF dress from babes with babies - Tallulah Twist. It's blue (colour that suits me), fits, casual (much more me than a proper dress) and OH likes it (I know he isn't supposed to see it, but we don't stick to the rules!).

Planning to do BLW, but since DD now sits in her highchair at table quite often, occ offering her opportunity to have some tastes. The other day she actually took the teaspoon with yoghurt and fed herself! Luckily she repeated her latest trick so I got it videoed. Not done it again though.

PelvicFloors0fSteel · 04/06/2011 21:25

We've had a very busy few days, was DS1's birthday so we've had a party, opened lots of presents, put together a bloody nightmare with instructions in what seemed to be a foreign language trampoline, bounced a lot, bounced some more and I'm now ploughing through the thank you cards and trying to do a little bit of studying each evening!

DS2 has been fantastic throughout, he charmed everyone at the party, rolled around on the lawn while I messed around with the trampoline and actually really enjoys having a little bounce (with a bit of help from me or DP).

walk glad you found something from babes with babies.

beatofthedrum · 04/06/2011 23:36

Oooh Walkthedog, LOVE your dress, just googled it. Far better to wear something you know you suit and look fab in. It's gorgeous!
All well here. Enjoying sunny days at last with dd and ds. He looks so cute in his little shorts and t-shirt combos :)
