Public sector vacancies should be on a .gov site. Of course if a private company runs the website more cheaply than the civil service, it is OK to contract out the operation of the website - but not to waste money paying for ads themselves.

Anyway, an excellent move. It will save money, and lead to more scrutiny of the hordes of non-jobs which abound so plentifully. Destroying just about the only income stream the Guardian has, given its tiny circulation, is just a pleasant side effect!

Well done Eric Pickles!

´But actually, why does a school need wifi?´

For a start,so that teachers can access resources from the web to enhance their lessons. Secondly,so students can learn about how to effectively use ICT and be competitive job seachers in the global market. Also, because registers are done directly onto computers and send via intranet to admin to save time and paper, and to prevent automated messages to parents saying 'your kid aint here', so that staff can email each other about problems/issues that might be vitally important to the running of the school.

There are lots of reasons why wifi makes very good sense.

Might as well ask, why does an office need wifi?

Answer; TO DO THE JOB!

edam You have just reminded me of Gleen Beck and co. Put me right off my lunch. [feeling sick]

LFN I think you deeply insulted Nick Robinson by calling him left-wing. He could not stop beaming on election night.
