Is childcare included in family element?

Does anyone know? I can't work it out from HMRC website.

Have they cut ALL elements of tax credits for those earning over 40k or just the £545 family element?

There is a huge difference. Will no one earning 40,000 plus qualify for any type of tax credits now?

Exactly - doing sums here it would be better for one of us to now stay home (childcare = £1400 a month) and earn in the 40's.

Which ironically would mean we could then claim tax credits

Childcare is rarely paid over the £40k limit anyway, for one child anything over £25k means no assistance with childcare.

Just bumping into active threads to see if anyone knows

happymumofone - yes it is if you have two children in childcare (or high costs)?

We had around £500 a month altogether (but costs of £1400) and an income in the low 40's.

If we had one DC we would have nothing.

The government website says -

"child tax credit - families earning more than £40,000/yr won?t get child tax credit from April 2011"

I read that as no tax credits at all will be paid over £40k.

I think unfortunately you are right

Was hoping for a miracle

Anyone else? I am holding onto a delusional glimmer of hope here before I search for 101 great bread and water recipes
