I stupidly keep looking at the clock, lord knows what I will be like this time tomorrow!

Ooh I am excited too!

My first election so doubly exciting, I am quite pleased in a way that it's likely to be a historic one as people keep saying.

gruber · 05/05/2010 20:06

me me me! BBC News 24 has been on for the last 4 days! We are stupidly excited here, we're in a semi-marginal (Lib Dem held, 4% tory swing needed) but we are very excited still anyway.

Planning our night, we are thinking of going to bed sensibly (1ish) but getting up early to catch the last few swings as it happens...

OOOH live on BBC now 3 leaders!

sallyJayGorce · 05/05/2010 20:08

Excited - like things being shaken up a bit. Hope they are one way or another. If I thought GB would still be in No. 10 I wouldn't bother to watch.

Kevlarhead · 05/05/2010 20:08

Positively agog with indifference.

It must be what living in a very safe Tory seat does to me...

Wineonafridaynight · 05/05/2010 20:47

I'm so, so excited!

Takver · 05/05/2010 20:49

I have a nasty feeling that it will be 1992 all over again & I'll be driven to bed by depression in the hope that I'll wake up & find it was all a dream . . .

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 05/05/2010 20:57

I seriously think I will be awake at the crack of dawn tomorrow at the doors of the community centre! First time I have voted (only 2nd election, first I had no idea about anything) and am paranoid I am not registered or something?! I did get a polling card though so should be ok No idea what you do, but I am sure there will be instructions! I went with my mum once (very conserv. IMO but thinks she is lib dem?! and I think we voted raving loony party!) so have a vague memory of what it's like. I do have an irrational fear of mucking it up though, or not being able to physically stop myself voting someone with a silly name or something, like being lured into pressing buttons that say "Do Not Press". I am definatly staying up - I stayed up for America so I will sure as hell stay up for this! Probably know notHing until Lunchtime but anyway... Can you tell I'm getting all giddy??!

Is anyone staying up all night? I thought of waiting for the exit poll at 10 then getting up at about 3am when things should be coming in thick and fast. Don't want to miss the Portillo Moments!

DailyMailsaysVOTELABOUR · 05/05/2010 21:07

My memories of 1997 are having a 1-month old daughter and being hugely relieved. The next day I met up with friends in the pub at lunch time and everyone felt bright and light and happy. It doesn't feel like that this time [anxious]

EachPeachPearMum · 05/05/2010 21:09

DH will stay up all night- always does on election nights.
Not sure what he's goign to do though... we don't have TV, so he'll be limited to radio and whatever's online.

weegiemum · 05/05/2010 21:11

Kitten - if you accidentally spoil you r ballot paper and notice before you put it in the box, you can get another one, don't worry.

Note in the newspaper today - if you write a little dirty limerick about Gordon Brown (or whoever) on the Ballot Paper, they are usually too busy to read it out at the count!

weegiemum · 05/05/2010 21:13

A friend of mine and her family all got together in 1997 and had a bottle of champagne for every cabinet minister who lost a seat, 2 for Portillo.

SHe was so hung over the next day!

badgermonkey · 05/05/2010 21:15

I always get worried I'm going to accidentally vote BNP or something. I haven't thought through what chain of events would lead this to happen, seeing as I have put many crosses in many boxes accurately, but it's just a secret horror I have.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/05/2010 22:19

tash theres a strategy.

intellectually I know that weegie but I still have the fear!!!

off to bed soon so that Im not too tired..... but sillyly I have butterflies about it all.

Botbot · 05/05/2010 22:32

Yep, apprehensive and jittery. Not looking forward to what feels to me like the inevitable result (pessimist). Have taken Friday off work so I can nurse hangover/drown sorrows.

Love all the hoopla on the telly though - will stay up as late as possible to watch it all. Am looking forward to seeing what ker-aazy graphics the Beeb come up with this year. And Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell on C4! (brightens)

Stayed up all night in 1997, which I think was a major contributory factor to falling off a pair of platform shoes and breaking my ankle in two places the following evening

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/05/2010 22:37

right chappies. am off to bed. loooooong day tomorrow. sleep well all.
