Third Leader's Debate - BBC 29th April

In anticipation of tomorrow's TV debate, MN will be launching a fifth poll of Mumsnetter voting intentions as soon as the debate finishes. Can Cameron regain the ground he's lost? Will Clegg continue to build on his success following the first and second debates? We'll have to wait and see - but in the meantime, we've put together a handy table showing how your voting intentions and attitudes towards the party leaders have changed over the past four polls

I think if you have a home worth over £600 000 then you can afford (or your children can) to pay a bit of tax on that.

The effects on families with an income of £50 - 80 000 (the tax credit cut) will be much larger.

bumper but I do go into the office which is a BIG company in Bishops Cleeve (clue)

whifflegarden · 29/04/2010 21:01

Jog on by NC. You can't dictate how much bonus private institutions pay. Let the shareholders manage that. Govt. stay out of business and focus on regulating the industry.
Bankers typically have small salaries anyway and rely on bonuses to make it up.

FairyMum · 29/04/2010 21:01

This is the first debate I have watched. I expected NC to be more impressive, DC is terrible. I think GB is doing well.

Cartoose · 29/04/2010 21:01

But it's a bonus for us just having you here ronshar

ronshar · 29/04/2010 21:02

Ah thank you

InmyheadIminParis · 29/04/2010 21:02

vesela - do you think the tory party (hands off buisiness philosophy) would have regulated the banks more? not a chance.

woosam · 29/04/2010 21:02

Whiffle, how about child benefit?
Do something about that rather than paying it to parents like me who just pay it straight into a savings account for my kids. Government funded savings for affluent kids. Madness!

MorocconOil · 29/04/2010 21:02

GB is the only one who knows what he's talking about. NC is out of his depth.

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 29/04/2010 21:02

Agree with woosam. Better to help your children when in need and and then when you no longer need your worldly goods you pass them on for the hopeful better use on others.

But then I have no inheritance to come, just poor/spendthrift (but generous) parents, so I would say that!

Steery · 29/04/2010 21:03

£50k is a lot for someone in the Southwest

tougholdbird · 29/04/2010 21:03

GB name check for Obama - ugh.

Bumper - think I might possibly work where you work.

Cartoose · 29/04/2010 21:03

Yes, GB we don't want all banks fleeing the country.

vesela · 29/04/2010 21:03

I want to see Clegg HAMMER Brown, but he'll have been told to stay positive...

Brown can't get away with this.

SparrowGirl · 29/04/2010 21:03

I have to agree with Inmyhead. I don't think any of the other parties would have done anything different, and I'm hardly a labour fan.

ronshar · 29/04/2010 21:04

NC, Twat.

vesela · 29/04/2010 21:04

Inmyhead, I'm not a Tory, I'm a Lib Dem. No way do I trust the Tories with the economy.

whifflegarden · 29/04/2010 21:04

GB is talking crap. May sound good but don't forget who got us in this mess in the first place. We have had so many wasted resources.
DC is right about the euro

lobsters · 29/04/2010 21:04

Inmyhead - good point, i don't remember the tories crying out the boom objecting that the regulation was too lax

the problem with clegg's plan about bonuses is that no-one will go and work for british banks, they'll just going and work for the swiss/ americans/ japanese where they can get more money, and they'll be even more rudderless

mumutd · 29/04/2010 21:05

I would much rather see my parents enjoy their lives and spend their money on themselves. I am an adult and have to make my own money, not rely on what my parents could possibly leave me.

Cartoose · 29/04/2010 21:05

Banks are moving to Geneva and HK as we speak ...

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 29/04/2010 21:05

Really? A banking corporation tax cut?

I think wrt to benefits means testing can be just an expensive a process as it is to just give such a small amount out to everyone.

MmeLindt · 29/04/2010 21:05

I get the impression that NC has no idea about economics.

mspotatochip · 29/04/2010 21:05

oh dear Nick is flailing a bit, pity he couldnt swop with Vince for the night
