I'm not convinced - I think he's possibly more right wing than he lets on.

Hardly news, Mike! He's tried to. But failed to convince ...

Well yes, if he manages to pass off that particular "look".

But when he starts going on about how it's acceptable to be concerned about immigration because he once met a "black man" who was too, then you really have to wonder.

Oh yes, and the thing about his wife being "unconventional" because she went to a day school instead of a boarding one (that made me laugh)

And the stuff about how his mum was so "switched into the community" because she was a magistrate.

I heard something very wise about the Tories, which is that they have been seeking their "Tony Blair" since 1997. And they probably think Cameron is their "Blair" (ie an electable face). But they haven't yet had their Neil Kinnock, who did such a lot to move the Labour party away from the unelectable Labour party of the 70s, but just couldn't quite convince the public to elect him as PM.

Until they have their Kinnock, a pretty face isn't going to be what they need!

He sounds very right wing to me when I hear him talk, but I don't know if that's because I'm so much to the left. But his talk of people doing the right thing really made me screw my toes up. It sounded to me like he was saying that if people's lives don't turn out perfectly it's actually their fault - reading between the lines......
