How many people do you think there are posting on here who are in paid or voluntary employment of a political party?

I wish I knew the answer. I keep finding my self shocked by some of the stuff that gets posted but my partner says its probably written by activists and intended to stir so I thought I'd see if there is any truth in that.

There was one who was a self-declared Lab activist (MulberryBush?). I'm sure all the 'MN election' stuff has brought a few more, but it's all good fun IMO. Wonder if they get frustrated when they realise they can't vote in the polls?

See my politrolls thread way down on here!

How can you be "in voluntary employment of a party?" You can volunteer for a party or be a member of a party (I'm a Lib Dem member and volunteer) but does that really make you any different from other people? If so, how?

It's all a continuum, and there would be no politics without volunteers. Parties come out of the public - they're not imposed from on high. It's not a simple question of "us" and "them."

Yes, I roll my eyes when I see "inspiring Eddie Izard Labour broadcast here", but it's just someone who wants Labour to win as much as I want the LDs, and is being honest about it.

Politrolls are those who pretend to be something they're not - "I was going to vote Lib Dem and then I saw their policy on [insert policy the Tories are trying to attack] and I thought - I can't vote for that." On the other hand there are some people who might genuinely think that (had been planning to vote for party x but was put off by policy y) so you just have to use your judgment when you see posts like that.

Agree with your definition Vesela. It's those 'suddenly seeing the light' posters that make me very . And when you (gently) challenge them they disappear!!

I'm not having a go at anyone vesela I'm just trying to figure out what level of manipulation is on here.

It just seems to me there is a lot of inferred superiority in some of the posters views.

Also are there people on here deliberately giving extremest views whilst professing themselves lib/lab/con etc when in fact they are the complete opposite and are just trying to make voters for the other side look ridiculous?

Scary I'll have a look at yours now.

Lol ninjacat - no, i don't think so, I think some of the posters really are that barking refreshingly unconventional in their thinking
