Try this link - a questionnaire on major policies. Lets you consider the policies rather than the parties or politicians then shows which party is the closest match to your personal views.

You can opt to look at only 4 areas - I went for all 9 to get a full overview. Only took about 10 mins but has made me think!!!

voteforpolicies.org.uk/

Turns out I should vote Tory or Green. Always thought I was LD - but did not turn up once!

PacificDogwood · 17/04/2010 09:55

Well, I am mainly Green, equally Tory and Labour.
LD and UKIP came up once each.

My father (dyed in the wool Labour) might never speak to me again!

Shame I am not able to vote - am not British

Great site though, thanks for the link!

MountTheFairy · 17/04/2010 09:58

Well, I am Green or Lib Dem. No surprise there! Voting Lib Dem though. Great link, thank you, though I could quite easily recognise parties from their policies.

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2010 10:19

Lib Dems 33.33%
Labour 22.22%
Green 22.22%
Cons 22.22%

I suspect there's no one party that could be consistent to my own ideas across all areas. And I would imagine it's the same for the majority. I'd like to see electoral reform really to account for this.

toccatanfudge · 17/04/2010 10:20

44.44% Lib Dem........thankfully only Green, Labour and Lib Dems came up at all - phew

2 the green ones were Welfare and immigration

toccatanfudge · 17/04/2010 10:21

Labour 33.33%
Lib Dems 44.44%
Green Party 22.22%

were the full results for me with all 9

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 17/04/2010 10:21

Well, it's not totally about manifesto policies, is it, you also have to make a value judgement on whether you trust the party to implement them; what else they might quietly have up their sleeves; what they'll do if some unexpected media hoo-ha kicks off (eg mephedrone, Dangerous Dogs Act spring to mind)

bobbiewickham · 17/04/2010 10:21

Equally Green and Tory.

Lib Dem came up once, Ukip once and Labour once.

None the wiser, tbh.

AvadaKedavra · 17/04/2010 10:24

Tory - which is fine by me

ShowOfHands · 17/04/2010 10:26

TheHeathenOfSuburbia, gosh no of course it isn't just manifestos. In fact, the party I vote for and will vote for again is not the one that came out as the majority in that test. I vote for the party I do for the reasons you described. I don't actually like a couple of their policies but am honest enough to admit that my ideals are probably not what's best anyway.

Manifest policies are the tip of the iceberg.

Lovecat · 17/04/2010 10:59

Oh, how weird - I've always been a labour voter but am increasingly disenchanted with them... and I didn't pick a single one of their policies!

So it turns out I should vote Green, with LD for Welfare and Education.

(the scary thing is that I voted Tory for the ecomony...waaah!)

MegSophandEmma · 17/04/2010 11:01

I'm green party 50% shame they won't get in ever

dawntigga · 17/04/2010 11:22

Hey, I'm green or lib dem - am not in the least bit shocked.

BleeingHeartLiberalAtYourServiceTiggaxx

mumdebump · 17/04/2010 11:46

UKIP 77% !!!!!!!!!! with a hint of Tory and Green.
But although I agree with UKIP policies I think that their politicians are a bunch of nutters!
Relieved not to have been LibDem, Labour or BNP though.

electra · 17/04/2010 12:20

Mine was divided equally between Labour, Libdem and Green.

lincstash · 17/04/2010 14:37

@ OP

Well done, you finally saw through the State BS and realised what a bunch of useless lying twats Labour are.

Blackduck · 17/04/2010 15:11

Green here (and not a single policy from the party I usually vote for...)

Cadders1 · 17/04/2010 20:32

TheHeathenOfSuburbia: Could you let me know how to tell which ones are trustworthy!

OP posts:
lou031205 · 17/04/2010 21:02

Labour 66.7%
Cons 17%
Green 17%

daphnedill · 17/04/2010 22:50

Labour 40%
LibDems 60%

...which is spot on!

atlantis · 17/04/2010 22:59

Cons 80%
ukip 20%

thats a shocker as I thought it would be the other way round.

Will be voting tory.

crystal123 · 18/04/2010 14:23

Dear Cadders, I think you will find the Greens are a non-party. Their policy on immigration according to the PPC for Finchley and Golders Green is "If they have got the Bxxlks to get here then they can stay! How can anyone take them seriously?

chimchar · 18/04/2010 14:31

i was another greenie!

fairly even split between the others then.

i still don't know who to vote for!

Cadders1 · 18/04/2010 15:18

crystal123 I don't think the Green Party is a non-party - it just depends what your priorities as a voter are. I won't be voting for them either but if was not for the economy I think alot of the parties would be focussing more on their green agenda, however most people are not too bothered about the future of the planet when they don't feel their jobs, pensions and the state of education and health services are not secure!

I have found this website absolutely fascinating, thankyou. When I did all of them I came out conservative for over half. I have always voted conservative. I quite thought I would have been more UKIP. I was surprised to have voted labour for crime and Libdem twice. It proves what a difficult matter politics is.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 19/04/2010 09:45
  • Green Party 57.14%
  • Lib Dems 28.57%
  • Labour 14.29%
