Oooh. I am imagining it like a student bar (ie mostly orange and brown).

I predict that within about a month we'll see our first impassioned plea for politics sub-sections (socialist, liberal, neocon, green, capitalist donkey libertarians etc)

Was also wondering if any of you have any particular politics blogs/twitterers (is that a word? Or should I be using tweeple?) that you would recommend? I need new ways to kill time at work!

Ewe, you are a bit of a righty aren't you? All the blogs I'd recommend are a bit lefty. But will give you links if you want 'em.

Honestly? I'm still exploring. I have only recently become really interested in politics in the last year or two, since becoming a Mother and generally growing up a bit!

DP is a total Tory boy, very actively involved and we disagree on many many points but I agree with some overall principle. My Dad is an old school labour socialist so I have a certain amount of that ingrained in me and putting an X in the conservative box on a ballot slip doesn't sit terribly well with me.

Oh, and I voted Green in the Euros because I really liked Caroline Lucas on Question Time.

On friends recommendations I already read Guy Fawkes' blog and Tory Bear so a bit of balance would be no bad thing! Sorry, that was an awfully long-winded way of saying yes to links please.

Ewe, I'd recommend Liberal Conspiracy for a fairly MN-like standard of debate (pretty well informed and not shouty and unpleasant): www.liberalconspiracy.org/ It is explicitly anti-Tory (but not in an aggressive way IMO).

I also like Paul Mason's blog (Newsnight's economics bod)

Len reads a few feminist blogs I think. Most of my other ones are about international development.

On Twitter, I follow Sunny Hundal (he's the Liberal Conspiracy fella so if you like that, you'll like him) and Richard J Murphy (tax justice man). Again, most of the rest are international development/green politics types.

Fantastic development. Maybe now I'll start posting again, or at least reading posts.
I find as my kids grow up (and back to work), I'm less interested in the day to day bickering.....however, I do miss my mumsnet.
Eagerly awaiting to read more.
