The BBC report that Polanski, who is a London Assembly member, will stand in Holborn and St Pancras on 8 October as he seeks to become an MP.

He was voted to be the party's candidate by members of the Camden Green Party ahead of local councillor Hamza Chowdhury.

Polanski said the Greens "might be the underdog in this election but we have the momentum and we can win".

Let's hope not and that Camden council stays Labour.

Good. Will be interesting to see how close it was.

What a relief!

I was getting nervous about the result but it was a clear victory for Labour in the end (though a low turn out generally at 39%).

Now he has a lot of questions to answer.

Of course he is insisting he will carry on (being an antisemitic twat).

The Greens came second, just as they did in the local elections in the area.

The best outcome was that George Galloway lost his deposit, hopefully if ever he stands again that continues.

Ha ha ha. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

Andrew Feinstein, who got 18.9% of the votes at the last general election, didn't run this time and encouraged his supporters to vote for Polanski.

I wonder what would have happened to the Green vote if he had decided to run and the Gaza vote had been split.

Zoe Hatch, director of Green Women's Declaration, was live on GB News about half past 4 this morning. I don't know if it's available on catch up but it was a very good interview.

GWD have tweeted a clip.

Happy that George Galloway lost his deposit. He doesn't even live in the UK anymore!

Thank you. Transcript of what Zoe Hatch said because I feel a lot of people won't watch a clip from something on GB news

"I feel a lot of people still see the Green party as being partly at least about the environment but there's this section that have come in and they have not only come in with different views to what I would call "true Green" politics, they've also come in and weaponised the system. They've understood how to affectively change the agenda because it's a grass roots policy led party. I think that could have been countered, if people stood up who are in leadership positions. And I don't just say Polanski here, I say people like Caroline Lucas, Adrian Ramsey, Ellie Chowns. They didn't speak up as well as they could have done, they haven't shown enough leadership. And I think we have a failure of leadership within the party. I think women wouldn't have been so badly treated if the leadership within the party had stood up and said, "this is wrong what is happening to women. We understand that women have a right to determine their own spaces based upon biological sex. Instead they stayed quiet, they cowered in the shadows because they were worried that they were going to be next. And I do think now we are seeing the fall out from that".

It's good news that Polanski didn't win, but could this mean he'll be ousted and Mothan Ali installed as leader? He's 10x worse.

He’s a vile specimen.

A dangerous arsehole, as is Polanski. Glad he lost.

He is worse but at least he is more transparent and people won't be able to carry on pretending that the Green party can't be antisemitic for example because the leader is Jewish.

It's worrying that the green party came second.
