Tactically and no.

You 'voted' (in the StrawPoll)?

No, I didn't. Is it a straw poll you are running, or some random website?

ETA - you can't turn cookies off easily in the website of your link, so it isn't one I would use.

"Strawpoll" is a polling website.
This is the first time in the couple of years I've been using it that someone has cited cookie issues as a reason not to use it...

I don't use any website that doesn't allow me to globally turn off cookies. If you replace the word cookie with tracker, it makes more sense.

It is a legal requirement to enable a user to be able to turn them off, but any site like this that makes you go through and turn them off one by one is not one I want to visit.

I'm amazed how many people vote ignorantly. I have a friend who believes that people should not be allowed to vote unless they can come up with one or two coherent, sensible sentences about their choice.

People struggled for years to get the vote for almost everyone in this country. I wouldn't like to see us try to go back on that. However, I do understand that you can sometimes despair of some folk's reasons for their votes. I hold on to a thought that maybe ignorant instinct somehow wins out but I don't think I could defend my thought.

Yes, in the U.S. too, where black citizens were prevented from voting even when they were legally allowed, and even though America likes to imagine itself very modern, women didn't get the vote until 1920 (and it barely passed!).

But I just wanted to say I loved your writing: I don't think I could defend my thought. I wish more people could admit that.

The only solution to people voting for 'interesting' reasons is through better (political) education.

I and others had to pick ourselves up after (whilst campaigning in Bedford) someone said "I'm voting Leave because I don't agree with gay adoption"

I am reminded of a ...

I am old. One of my grandmothers was born in 1880. She would have been about 40 when she got the vote. I don't know if she voted or not but I think she will have. Her daughters always voted.

Wow! Did you know your grandmother? Amazing historical perspective!

I regret now that I didn't coax my grandparents to talk more about their past.
