Starting a thread to discuss Question Time tonight. I've seen some clips already and Robert Kenyon comes across as well as you'd expect.

What don't you like that GMCA have brought in out of interest? I really love the buses (been a shock going to other places and the cost), and am massively impressed by the potential of LiveWell and WorkWell. Would have like a low carbon scheme, but with different regulations and better rules for van drivers. Where I live, the pollution levels are so high. It's causing much higher asthma rates in children.
I've met Burnham a few times and he comes across as decent and giving a shit. Ive also met Farage who did not!
I'm not a huge labour fan but would be much more happy with Burnham then, any of the current leaders on offer by any party.

As part of the Bee network cycle lanes are being put in on major roads in my town currently. This is causing major problems for everyone locally as the roads are grid licked for the majority of the day not just during rush hour. Cycle lanes that have already been put in are useless as they are full of debris and pot holes already. The very limited number of cyclists still use the road as the cycle lanes are dangerous. The council has had to cancel cycle lanes on another major road that was supposed to be worked on at the same time due to public uproar. The lanes are costing a small fortune which could be spent on a number of other things which would improve the town greatly and the lives of those who live here.

I don't use public buses as I drive but I do have a couple of friends who do. They both wouldn't use them after dark as they just aren't safe but I do appreciate that the capped ticket prices are helpful. Although they didn't apply to my son's school bus we had to pay over £30 a week for him to travel to and from school on the bus.

I live in a village on the outskirts of Rochdale, he should/ could have done more in regards to the child rape gangs. Maggie Oliver has even commented on this in the last couple of weeks.

Manchester city is thriving, it's an amazing city but towns such as Rochdale, Oldham, Ashton etc are being left behind. Most residents have more pressing concerns than pollution levels. I appreciate that the environment is an important conversation to have but when children are dying in flats from mould, food banks can't keep up with demand, the high street is made up of vape shops, barbers and take aways among the boarded up shops, social cohesion is at an all time low and groups of men walk around parts of the town to 'protect' women and children, there are so many more areas that can be prioritised.

I've seen both the QT and the interview with Chris Mason and neither show Robert Kenyon in a good light.
Unable to apologise or even admit previous comments about women saying he wouldn't say such things now as he's under scrutiny doesn't mean it's not still thinks that way.
Im surprised it took nearly 50 minutes for him to blame immigrants for all the ills of the constituency and it was obvious he was reading off a planned script from party HQ.

I've just watched it and felt it was more like the Andy B show. I don't like Andy as a mayor, some of the things that have been brought in in my GM town due to GM funding are wasteful and lacking common sense.

I think the Tory candidate came across better than the others. I didn't like the Green candidate pushing women's rights.

Heaven forbid anyone should “push” women’s rights 🙄

Violetparis · Yesterday 15:12

The Green Party certainly doesn't push for women's rights, they want to dismantle women's rights to single sex spaces. They disgust me as much as Reform/Robert Kenyon.

The Green party do not support women's rights at all, they want the exact opposite that's why I made the comment.

Burnham would not answer a funding question from Vic Derbyshire on Newsnight. Just evaded it. Can spout the policies but where is the money coming from? Eg nationalize Thames Water! Who is paying? Yes, those fleeced taxpayers yet again. It’s all benefits and spend, spend, spend. Never anything about cutting our coat to match our cloth!

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 17:01

Why would anyone pay to renationalise water? The water companies are in deep debt - just bankrupt them and repossess the infrastructure.

I'd vote for this.

Me too. God knows their shareholders have had enough return on their investment over the last 40 years.

Without actually investing in such fripperies as safely dealing with sewage rather than shoving it all into our seas and rivers.

So how was she pushing them?

Quite.

Have you watched it? If not I suggest you do, she clearly comments on womens rights. Watch it for yourself.

Do you see it as a bad thing that she comments on women's rights?

I did watch it. We might be at cross purposes. Didn’t you say she was pushing women’s rights?

Curveygirl · Yesterday 18:21

@Zonder no, I fully support women's rights especially our right to single sex spaces but her stance contradicts what the Green party stand for in this regard. I found it hypercrital especially with her reaction to the Reform candidate and what he has said/ wrote previously (just for clarity I don't support Reform).

@Stelladid yes, I did watch it. As I've written above I find it hypercritical from a Green candidate that she advocated for Women's rights, I think she said it was one of the reason's she got into politics. I support women's rights to single sex spaces and the biolgical def of what a woman is. The Green party don't support single sex spaces etc.

I was horrified when she mentioned having a young daughter.
