Isn't it weird that a lot of these far right, unite the flag, raise the colours...march for white types are actually now being arrested for violence, including violence against women? Increasingly, I question if these are actually the good guys...really good article on this: https://trendingsheet.com/article/uk-far-right-pipeline-2024-to-2026-southport-riots-flags-violence

I don't think it is so much being arrested now. It's previous arrests.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 29/05/2026 07:44

I don't find it weird at all tbh, they are just conforming to expectations - morally bankrupt people behaving in morally bankrupt ways.

I genuinely don't understand what would have ever made you think that these were the "good guys" in the first place, but you're right, of course - they are far from being "good".

These vile men don't give a shit about women and girls, they are simply spouting faux concern about VAWG in order to further their racist agenda.

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 29/05/2026 07:45

" Increasingly you question whether they are the good guys"? I don't even they would say they were the " good guys"!

AndyBurnhamForPM · 29/05/2026 07:46

We need to outlaw these right wing marches

Hotupnorth · 29/05/2026 07:47

I wouldn't ever have considered these people the good guys. Increasingly so.

What about the palestinian ones?

Not even "far right " now. Just the right?

Do tell, who you are going to appoint to decide who can march peacefully and who can't.

Is that official Burnham policy?

AndyBurnhamForPM · 29/05/2026 10:17

Protesting a genocide is not right wing.

PerkingFaintly · 29/05/2026 10:34

Nice derail, @AndyBurnhamForPM & @LauraNorda . Very quick out of the gate.

But back to the topic of the thread...

Thanks, OP. That article describes it very well:
https://trendingsheet.com/article/uk-far-right-pipeline-2024-to-2026-southport-riots-flags-violence
Between July 2024 and May 2026, the UK experienced a continuous far-right mobilisation that followed a consistent operational pattern: a mainstream-adjacent mass rally establishing an audience, followed by a triggering event, rapid social media amplification of false claims, widespread street violence, and the consolidation of rhetorical infrastructure through normalised activities like flag campaigns, culminating in larger subsequent rallies

And as @RedTagAlan identifies, there's a close connection between those committing street violence and those who have already committed violence against women and children.

Two in five arrested for last summer’s UK riots had been reported for domestic abuse

Isabella Lowenthal-Isaacs, the policy manager at Women’s Aid, said: “A year on from the terrible Southport attacks on young girls, and as conversation about far-right protests once again starts to appear in the media, it is tempting to treat these events as isolated. However, the reality is that these acts of violence are part of a wider pattern rooted in the same dynamics that drive domestic abuse and violence against women and girls: control, coercion, and misogyny.”

Police data indicates overlaps between public violent disorder and domestic violence and abuse

The fact that 40% of those arrested for rioting after Southport wasn't new to me.

But I've learned the term "rhetorical infrastructure", which I think is a great way of putting it.

Football casuals innit.

TonTonMacoute · 29/05/2026 11:25

Men who are violent towards women, treat women as second class citizens, who abuse women and children are abhorrent whichever side of the political spectrum they are supposed to belong to.

But celebrating mass rape is OK?

@LauraNorda , presumably the left wing hate marches are fine. 🙄

I thought all the lefties were at the palestinian marches.

Oh nothing to see there. They are only peaceful falafel eaters types. Oh wait!

" Increasingly you question whether they are the good guys"? I don't even they would say they were the " good guys"!

No, they absolutely do position themselves as the good guys – saving women and civilisation! Wearing their pants outside their trousers!

They wouldn't get the traction they do without this posture. If they advertised rallies as "we're violent, women-abusing thugs, come join us" then most ordinary folk wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

Put down the Daily Mail and go outside and enjoy the world

FrippEnos · 29/05/2026 12:20

I am not concerned or surprised that those on far right marches have a history of or currrently have been arrested for violence.

I am more concerned that many are overlooking the violence of those on the left.

PerkingFaintly · 29/05/2026 12:34

You're not concerned that those on far right marches have a history of violence?

WTF?

I mean, I get not being surprised. But not concerned? Shock
