Nobody ever criticises the UK/US electorate

Yes both UK & US electoral systems are dreadful and rarely fully representative of peoples views. But. Its all very well commentators constantly bemoaning useless or misguided politicians who entrench inequality and trash the planet.
But 77.3 million people left their homes and voted for this man, knowing very well from 2016-20 what he was. Margaret Thatcher sold off public housing, generating the housing crisis, was belligerent and xenophobic, trashed the old industrial cities. Millions in Britain worshipped her and voted for her and her spiritual successors including Blair, Cameron etc time and again. 52% of EU Referendum voters in 2016 went out and voted to leave the world's most successful free trade block. Nigel Farage says the most appalling things about other humans and is set to become Prime Minister. Millions and millions of voters are responsible for what has been done to both countries.

If Farage does become PM & form a government, he will be leading a country with a significant portion of people who.viscerally despise him & his policies. He and his supporters might want to believe that he represents all British people, but he does not.
Perhaps the answer is to split the UK into different countries Reformland & the rest, this doesn't seem likely

This they have a ceiling of around 30%. Farage is a man despised by the majority, he's hated much more than Boris, Truss etc. I don't think he'd actually accomplish much without riding rough shod over the constitution - which I wouldn't put past him. I honestly think he'd destroy the UK in every sense. I don't see the union surviving a Reform government. I know I'll be holding my nose and voting for a nationalist party tomorrow to stop Reform. I loathe them, but I loathe Reform more.

I'm not a fan of any of those parties, but statistically it is borne out that those who are more intelligent and have higher levels of education vote for parties on the centre/centre left.

No - graduates do vote for more left wing parties but they tend to go right as they get older and wiser.

Unless you think the racists who vote Green are particularly intelligent?

Well, although it shames me to say it, the US electorate is responsible for a great many ills in the world at the moment.

Yes well obviously, but the premise of the thread title is bizarre.

That rightward shift is no longer occurringg in the way that it used to. It used to happen in your 40s, but now it's in your 60s. This has been reported by numerous statisticians and pollsters.

You need to trust us all more than you do @Sheeled . Over the generations life has got better for the humans on the planet.
There are more of us every decade, we are not being killed by disease as in the Middle ages. Neither are we being killed in wars like in the 20 century.
In the west we see that everyday living is getting easier. We changed very quickly since the industrial revolution.
We see that armies and police forces are getting smaller as our populations are more peaceful and more honest. Murder rates are reducing even in cities once renowned for violence such as New York.
Other than the west we can see the problems of the middle east and the problem of ruling in those failed states. It is up to them to change to suit their populations.

@Sheeled your complaint is part of the challenge that we need to improve further. You and those who argue against you will help us all think more and change just a little bit and that will help our development.

You do know graduates exist across the age spectrum? I’m a graduate and I’m 72. If anything I’ve moved further left as I’ve got older.

In my fifties and as left as ever. Four degrees.

I don't really trust anything anymore, just cross reference everything from a many sources as possible. It's a crazy world these days.

I agree about being wary, but I think it's best to find a few reliable sources and stick with them - maybe with occasional excursions for fun.
