Jeremy corbyn
Ed milliband
Nick clegg
Hillary Clinton dabbing that one time
The Democrats

Zac Polanski's strategy seems to be getting the youth onside. I think its a waste of time

Its great having celebrities endorse you, but imo it's better to have adults, parents of children and teens, on your side.

Sorry if my post is incoherent - I usually focus on reality tv but this post just really irked me!

Catherine Connolly, the current president of Ireland did and got elected.

Mind you, the whole election was a farce and she ended up with one really, really poor opponent so she would probably have won anyway. Regardless of that, she got the youth out voting and the question is will that follow through to general elections?

I feel like - now that I am mid 30s

I dont fucking care if some 18 year old with a mullet likes a politician because they like stormzy (sorry stormz if youre reading 😄)

I'm no longer an idealist, I just want someone who wont do further damage to the NHS, and can go toe to toe with trump

Not a fan but starmer is managing so far - i reckon with raynor by his side, he will be even more likeable

We know, as an adult, the importance of management and leadership - someone doing tiktok dances, imo, isnt going to survive leading a group of politicians, let alone the country (sorry Jeremy corbyn)

I've just given 16yo radfem me the ick

Will keep an eye out, it'll be a while yet

I guess in smaller elections where the vote could swing, it can help

My concern is she was supported by Sinn Féin and the loopier left parties such as People Before Profit. The youth vote could then follow through to them in a general election. We also have a PR system so easier for them to get in as we have multiple TDs per electoral area. I'm generally in favour of PR but not if Sinn Féin and PBP get in.

It’s because life is shit for the youth, and it is galling to see the rich get richer whilst the young can’t buy a house, can barely afford to live due to the price of rent, the job market is horrific, public services are awful, plenty of money for war but it’s impossible to see a doctor etc etc etc … Zack is the only one coming up with any solutions that aren’t placing blame at people who have been dealt an even worse hand in life (immigrants, trans people, disabled kids) like reform, or saying how rubbish everything is whilst just tinkering around the edges too afraid to upset their rich donors, like labour. I hope he does get young people voting & although the greens are unlikely to win, hopefully they’ll get a big enough share to drag labour back left (just like UKIP dragged the tories to the right), and realise they can’t just do take our votes for granted.

and on your point re Trump, Trump seems to LOVE the new NY mayor who is a socialist & doing really great, tangible, left wing things!! There’s no predicting who he’ll like tbh, and I don’t think we should be voting based on that maniac’s whims in any case.

Trump loves "winners". Reflected glory etc.

Incidentally, people really need to keep an eye on the NYC mayor, He is amazing.

Years ago, Clegg as leader of the Lib Dem’s courted the student vote by saying they’d scrap tuition fees. There were queues of voting students in his Sheffield constituency - so much so that locals complained that they should be given priority.
The Lib Dem’s then formed a coalition with the Tories and student loans continued and were increased. So that was a good lesson in democracy for the youth vote and for all of us that believed the Lib Dem’s were a benign choice. They were responsible for giving legitimacy to the Tory governments that followed and Brexit!

Depending on how you define "youth," it worked for Trump.

I was just reading that in general, most people don't get seriously interested in politics until later in life.
