Labour

TheFTrain · 22/08/2025 16:54

Conservative

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/08/2025 16:55

Dad Tory, Mum Green.

Movinghouseatlast · 22/08/2025 16:57

Conservative. My dad stood to be a Tory Councillor. Margaret Thatcher was like Mother Theresa in his eyes!

He was from a very poor background and his main desire in life was to be 'someone'. He thought it made him better to be a Tory I think.

I'm the opposite, a total lefty which caused a lot of issues growing up.

Suitcaseforlife · 22/08/2025 17:08

Labour. I continued to vote Labour (occasionally a tactical vote) however i think in future I'll be a tactical voter only.

PeonyPatch · 22/08/2025 17:17

Dad tory mum labour

Octavia64 · 22/08/2025 17:19

Monster Raving Loony.

TartanMammy · 22/08/2025 17:23

Labour. My grandad was big in the garden unions and my parents protested the poll tax. But the whole family is now SNP with a touch of green, probably since Tony Blair & Iraq.

JohnTheRevelator · 22/08/2025 17:24

Labour.

Judiezones · 22/08/2025 17:26

Conservative. Both parents and all grandparents. All solidly working class.
I've voted for several different parties, but never Labour.

MrsBucketHat · 22/08/2025 17:27

Anyone but the Conservatives!

Omeara · 22/08/2025 17:29

Conservative. Very unusual because they were from a Welsh mining family.

HotTiredDog · 22/08/2025 17:31

Conservative. Mum voted the same as Dad because that is what their generation did (I’m old!)

I’ve been Green & Lib Dem and am now a Labour Party member (and a disappointed one, if I’m honest)

purpleygrey · 22/08/2025 17:31

Tories

RedFatball · 22/08/2025 17:32

Labour. My dad was a Sheffield steelworker, he bled Labour if you cut him.

MissyB1 · 22/08/2025 17:35

Interesting in our house, my dad stood for many years as an independent councillor, but both my parents voted Conservative in general elections. But we were just encouraged to show an interest in politics, there was always lots of politics talk in our house.

FindingMeno · 22/08/2025 17:36

Labour.
As we're my grandparents.

Cardiganwearer · 22/08/2025 17:37

Labour - my dad anyway. Mum was never drawn on it. I grew up in the industrial North with my dad often unemployed. I dreaded the result of general elections at far too young an age. Margaret Thatcher got in again and again and doom would once again descend on the house. My dad would have stand up rows with my mum’s parents who were tories. Both parties were at fault there. They seemed to enjoy the rows really. My dad would tell tales of rows he had as a young man with his big brother (20 years age difference) who went into Business and did well for himself and became a Conservative. It wasn’t a happy way to grow up and I wish they had kept the money worries and dislike of the government to themselves.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 22/08/2025 17:39

Labour. Never ever Tories.

Figcherry · 22/08/2025 17:39

Labour.

Growlybear83 · 22/08/2025 17:40

My mum was very much a conservative but came from a labour background - her great grandfather was one of the Rochdale Pioneers. My dad was much more left wing and usually voted Labour, although when I was young, we lived in a liberal stronghold and I can remember him voting for Eric Lubbock.

Westfacing · 22/08/2025 17:41

Labour

Parky04 · 22/08/2025 17:41

Conservative. Although, if still alive, they would now be Reform.

squashyhat · 22/08/2025 17:41

Tory. Never voted for them in my life.

Dh's cousin's dm was a staunch Tory and as leader of South Kesteven District Council she attended Thatcher's funeral.
