I'd like to read a lot less about the US and more about other areas. Without pivoting to Russia Today or other straight propaganda... where do you go for your news and how do you rate it?

Al Jazeera is good for a non west - centric perspective.

Thank you!

Australian abc.net.au is the public tv and internet media for Australia. There is going to be more US content than usual given what is happening now, but you’ll get news on South East Asia and the Pacific Islands as well as China.

I agree Al Jazerra. Also look at Reuters and AP (associated press) - mainstream media picks up a lot of news from them.

I occasionally watch the Brit's BBC and German's DW, where it's nice that America isn't the top story. I also like the New York Times, precisely because it has a lot of international news.

There are lots of decent programmes on the BBC world service often from correspondents in situ including interviews, investigations etc.

Or, for written news, I find the Financial Times has a wider perspective than a lot of the UK press both in the way it frames stories and in terms of what it focuses on.

It’s difficult finding out the truth from any mainstream news source, it’s even difficult to find a media source that raises the questions we’d all like answers to. If there was a reliable source of information everyone would be using it and be prepared to pay hundreds in subscription fees for it.

Unfortunately the BBC have made Trump the main headline for weeks now.

The World Service was a particularly great shout, thank you. Good idea about the FT too. Looked at the Economist subscription but it's too expensive for the moment. I've also subscribed a while ago to the Afghan Times but had actually forgotten, just because it doesn't bombard me with emails!

@Happyinarcon depends what you mean by mainstream media I suppose. We'd be in much worse information shape without eg the BBC, for sure (see World Service above).

BBC world service news is good. I sometimes have it on when I wake up in the night.

If you're a member of a library you might have free access to Pressreader app, which includes free access to the economist

Sadly true. Trump infects the world.
