What would you ask your MP?

Our constituency boundaries have changed, and we, along with around 50 other households have been absorbed by a neighbouring constituency which has a long standing MP who is now ours. She is holding a meeting at the local pub for her new constituency. What would you ask? Obviously there are local issues I would like her views on, but it is, I suspect going to be quite a small meeting and I am probably going to be able to get a question in on national issues. What would you ask?

Can you be moved from one constituency to another, so that you have a change of MP, except at an election?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 20/01/2025 16:52

Who are you?

What do you actually do?

upinaballoon · 20/01/2025 17:00

I would ask mine to pass on my thoughts about housing developments and the environment, to the appropriate ministers.

I'd ask what they've actually achieved, so tangible examples of how lives in the constituency have been improved. What bills they are supporting through parliament.

TheDogsMother · 20/01/2025 17:23

What do you actually do for our area ?

@Bromptotoo "Can you be moved from one constituency to another, so that you have a change of MP, except at an election?" Yes-constituency boundaries can be changed.

We moved from Daventry to South Northamptonshire but the MP only changed at the election. Had Ms Leadsom not stood down we'd have been in same position as OP.

I was thinking 6 months after the GE to get out and meet people was a bit slow on the uptake but maybe I'm missing something.

The Boundary Commission makes adjustments to constituencies between elections. Regarding the meeting: I would like to know a bit about her background. What work did she do? Is she local? Why the constituency she now represents? How does she inform herself about constituency issues? What specific interests does she have in parliament? Is she on any Select Committees? If she’s voiced strong opinions on something in the past ( look her up) have her views changed? Personally I would leave out local matters. I’d want to know more about what makes her tick.

How on earth they can justify opening non dom loopholes?! Idiots. (And I'm usually a labour supporter).
