Security clearance check

I am so excited that I’ve got a job in Glasgow working as a junior caseworker.

just one thing - 6 years ago I had attended a voluntary police interview- no further action.

I am worried sick about the Security Clearance.

Please help me to put my mind at rest.

Maybe ask to get this moved to a channel with more traffic? Or ask again in chat?

Waltons111 · 15/12/2024 22:20

Thank you

I expect it depends what it was for?

MadBlack · 15/12/2024 22:28

It's really unlikely, voluntary interview with no further action.

unlikelychump · 15/12/2024 22:30

Make sure you put it on the form. It will be on the police database, and the most important thing about any vetting is that you declare it.

What was the alleged crime? (Only if you want to say)

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 15/12/2024 22:31

Very unlikely to appear on a check but I would disclose it if you're asked as it's unlikely to affect the outcome.

Security Check is a lighter form of clearance; it's not DV which has the most awful form I've ever seen.

But what they're looking for is whether you could be blackmailed for something in your history. If you are open and honest about the circumstances that led to the interview and you have nothing to hide, it won't hold you back. They're looking for something that would give a bad actor a lever over you for social engineering.

Once you look at it from that perspective I'm sure you will find some reassurance.

Just declare it. No issues. Be as truthful as possible. It will show up on your police report.

Waltons111 · 15/12/2024 22:43

thank you everyone. really appreciate it.

don’t really want to go into too much detail, I was falsely accused.

it was the worst time of my life. I had to have counselling.

the accuser has mental health issues with a narcissistic personality. as well as being very jealous of me.

it’s not on my enhanced DBS.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN.

Even if it doesn’t show up on your enhanced DBS, do make sure you declare it.

As a pp said, something undeclared is the very worst thing, since it could give someone leverage over you. Don't risk that biting you (now or later).
