These are the Tory ex-Prime Ministers, ministers, former ministers and other notables who lost their seats at the election. I also added a few people who are notorious for various reasons, such as being exceptionally confrontational. Some very familiar names on there, I suspect, if you follow politics:

Alex Chalk
Andrea Jenkyns
Ben Bradley
Bill Wiggin
Bim Afolami
Brendan Clarke-Smith
Connor Burns
David TC Davies
Douglas Ross
Gillian Keegan
Grant Shapps
Jacob Rees-Mogg
Johnny Mercer
Jonathan Gullis
Liz Truss
Lucy Frazer (Culture Sec)
Maria Caulfield
Mark Harper
Mark Jenkinson
Mark Spencer
Michael Fabricant
Michelle Donelan (Sec of State for Science)
Miriam Cates
Penny Mordaunt
Peter Bottomley (Father of the House)
Robert Buckland
Simon Hart (Chief Whip)
Steve Baker
Theresa Villiers
Therese Coffey
Tobias Ellwood
Victoria Prentis
Will Tanner (Deputy Chief of Staff to Rishi Sunak)

YABU not to put that list in alphabetical order Grin

But a mindboggling list

historygeek · 05/07/2024 07:18

Philip Davis- married to Esther McVey and infamous filibusterer and voted against the upskirting bill. What a guy!

WuTangGran · 05/07/2024 07:18

Goodbye to all those fuckers!

Andywarholswig · 05/07/2024 07:20

It made my day seeing Jacob Rees Mogg has lost is seat - wanker

Lonelycrab · 05/07/2024 07:25

Not a huge Tory name but by (ex!) mp was Ranil Jayawardena. Didn’t think he’d go but beaten narrowly by Lib Dems. Wasn’t expecting that, don’t know the last time it wasn’t Tory here.

Goodbye to all those fuckers!

In a nutshell 😂

Corinthiana · 05/07/2024 07:32

Couldn't happen to nicer people.
I'm just pleased all those ridiculously obvious "vote Conservative" threads on here will stop. The level of desperation was quite something.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 05/07/2024 07:35

IDS clung on to his seat

AgnesX · 05/07/2024 07:37

Douglas Ross losing his seat has been the only highlight of the whole event. It's all profoundly depressing.

Oops, sorry Jacob Rees Mogg is an added bonus.

I'm usually a (small c) Tory voter but am rejoicing in being rid of :
JRM
Liz Truss
John Redwood (I know, he chose to step down but God, I'm glad he's gone)
Therese Coffey

I'm bewildered that Suella Braverman kept her seat. She's a vile human being. How could anyone vote for her ?

The views of the people who voted for Braverman will be very similar to those of the people who voted for Farage in Clacton.

The Haunted Pencil JRM & Coffey losing their seats is truly a gift on this Friday morning.

GCAcademic · 05/07/2024 11:26

Astonished that Christopher Chope is still an MP. The runner up wasn't even close. Add Christchurch to the list of places I will never set foot in.

On the plus side, though, my MP is on the OP's list. We now have our first ever Labour MP (a day I thought I'd never see), and it's the first time in over 100 years that the seat hasn't been held by a Tory.

I agree about Braverman; she's being touted as the next leader of the Conservatives!

hanahsaunt · 05/07/2024 11:29

Braverman, Badenoch and Patel all still there - how???

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 05/07/2024 11:31

NigelHarmansNewWife · 05/07/2024 07:35

IDS clung on to his seat

He clung on because the Labour vote split between the current Labour candidate and the ex-Labour candidate, who then stood as an independent candidate after being dumped by starmer

SiobhanSharpe · 05/07/2024 11:34

I don't know about the others but Badenoch is seen as a decent constituency MP after a very shaky start. She was basically parachuted into a safe seat by Tory central office after the sitting MP (a deputy speaker, no less) was ousted on age grounds. This was not popular locally, to put it mildly.
But apparently she has turned it sround somewhat. (Not a Tory myself.)

BorgQueen · 05/07/2024 11:34

Sad for David TC Davies, he put himself out for Women and spoke out when he had no need to.
Shame about Miriam Cates too.
Glad for Kemi - she should be the next Leader.

@GCAcademic - Macclesfield?
