Politics

I'm tired. Am I the only one?

So I'm absolutely tired of the current politics in the UK and in the world in general. I never thought I would ever be interested in politics but now in my late 30s, I'm seeing how messed up things are.

Instead of having leaders to encourage us and the country to be the best they can be, we instead have people in charge who are looking to divide us and keep us focused on issues that don't really exist or matter. We are kept distracted onto pointless things and our progression as a country/people has slowed down so much. Like we can't even get a straight answer when asking a question from people running this country, how is this possible?!

I'm really interested in making a political party now, because I feel if you want to get this done correctly, you have to start from the ground up. Now ofcourse this would not be for this general election but for the next one.

Please hmu with any helpful advice, or if you're a like minded individual, please drop me a message. Thank you!

I sympathize, but, hey, that's nothing compared to living four years under a Trump presidency, where I woke every morning with dread to hear the latest news of how he embarrassed the U.S., whom he insulted, what law he wants to flout. Consider yourself lucky.

But if I'm reading your post correctly that you want to start a new party on your own, sorry, but my personal opinion is that you don't stand a chance. If that's a long-term plan, then I'd suggest you spend the next 3-5years working full-time for a politician or a political cause to see how things work and make connections. Then when you have a solid base of experience and knowledge, plus a network of people, you can start thinking of launching out on your own.

If I lived in a city with a Mayor, I'd look to get involved in a mayoralty campaign. I think they have genuine impact on people's lives.

Likewise my local MP would love it if I volunteered in some way for her campaign. Or if not the actual MP then a candidate. In a local party if you put the hours in you can be one of a small group who chooses the candidate for the area, and can significantly influence their priorities.

Or stand for the council as an Independent yourself. I helped a friend with her election leafleting to become a Councillor and she was elected with just over 2,000 votes. She certainly gets things done (and gets death threats from right-wing crazies across the globe over traffic policy, but yanno...)

Start small. Or if you really can't bear it, join a charity campaign about something else!
