Sorry but why do we have a guy wrapped in furs and jewels stolen from other countries and gold draped about his person reading out our governments polices on a gold throne?
What is this but a class system designed to keep us as servants? It makes no sense at all anymore.
Which other countries do this? It's ridiculous, farcical and designed to manipulate. And he doesn't pay tax. He gets an allowance from us. And he has a private fortune of £400m? Does this make any sense at all?

I think we were just used to the queen but seeing Charles makes it all look so absurd, in this day and age

Exactly I can't take him or Camilla seriously, it's like they are playing dress up.

That is exactly my take on it too. And I reckon if Camilla could stay at home with a few gins and a packet of fags on the go she'd be in her own heaven. Well at least she doesn't live with KC3 which must be what's keeping them together at this stage.

I often wonder if Camilla outlives KC3 will her children inherit from the Royal pot of gold/diamonds and money etc. If so, I'd be employing a taster for my organic omelette if I were the King. LOL lighthearted ha ha before the sniffy monarchists enter the room.

Flyhigher · 07/11/2023 20:13

The queen paid millions for a legal case in America. Settled out of court. £12 million I think? You don't pay up unless there's guilt there.

Camilla doesn't live with KC3? Really? Where is she then?

It is well known that she spends most of her time in her own home Ray Mill House, where she can smoke, drink, swear spend lots of qualiity time with her grandchildren away from the organic plant conversationalist hypocritical environmentalist hubby.

I think it should be mandatory to do this in all marriages. I'm sure the King and Queen will subsidise us wedded ones to own separate houses, since they lead by their own example. Tally ho.

LlynTegid · 07/11/2023 20:25

It is a tradition that I would be happy to see end. What he reads out is written by the government and probably a load of lies in any case.

CanadianJohn · 07/11/2023 20:29

Sticking my toes in where angels fear to tread, or even breathe, I gather you want to sell the crown, and I suppose the crown jewels as well, and turf the king and his family out of their castles, palaces, etc.

That's not a new idea. That's exactly what the Marxists did in Russia... kicked out the Tsar and all the aristocracy. And a hundred years later, is indeed Russia a "workers' paradise"?

People who cannot remember history are doomed to repeat it.

Flyhigher · 07/11/2023 21:00

This tradition is outmoded. You have to admit it looks ridiculous. I think we could have a different solution that pares back the monarchy and gets rid of this excess. It's obscene.

The Crown is apparently worth £3 billion.
How many homeless can you put up for that?
Makes me feel sick.

Things are only worth what people are prepared to pay for them!
Just because it's "worth" £3 billion doesn't mean that it could be sold easily and the funds used elsewhere! .... it's not like it'd go on Vinted /eBay! 😂

If you want to free up cash, look at the cars politicians are driving around in and all their other expenses!

Also look at the costs and performances of elected presidents - they're hardly "cheap" - especially when they all want something need and different.

At least Charlie is recycling what's been used for years!

You are right that the Monarch does not HAVE to pay tax - but actually the Queen and now the King DO in fact pay tax on their personal income, because they volunteer to do so !

The sovereign grant may well be sizeable ... but it's not spent on wild extravagances. It employs people! Jobs and income for various individuals, supporting families !
The monarch does keep it, it's there to be spent

shoeawsome · 07/11/2023 23:17

The thing is if we got rid of all of it none of us would be any better off! 🤷‍♀️

The Govt have done nothing to help the people of this Country in 13 years & I definitely do not want Rishi's face on a stamp!

nocoolnamesleft · 07/11/2023 23:21

I don't really like Charles. But the institution of the monarchy stopped Maggie Thatcher, and Tony Blair, and Boris Johnson from being the head of state, and thank fuck for that.

MsJuniper · 07/11/2023 23:22

They look ridiculous and make us look ridiculous.

Let's get rid of all titles apart from Mr /Ms.

I'm sure we can still manage a bit of tradition from time to time without the kowtowing.

The crown belongs to the nation. It doesn’t belong to the King.

The King is the Head of State, so he opens parliament.

I love the sense of history, the pomp and the grandeur.

Cool.

Can we flog it then? £3bn is nearly £45 each for every resident of the UK. I'm happy with that.

IBlinkThereforeIAm · 08/11/2023 00:16

Yes but he hasn't been prosecuted so it remains an allegation until he is found guilty you cant hold it against him legally he has done nothing admitted nothing been convicted of nothing

Let's see him extradited to a US prison on remand then while he stands trial for this, like any other UK resident would be if accused of the same.

DoktorPeppa · 08/11/2023 00:22

It's obscene.

dubsie · 12/11/2023 08:26

Definitely time to remove the monarchy from politics, it's utterly ludicrous. He's meant to be an out right supporter of green policies and supporting homeless but sat there reading out the plans for a government that has reversed it's green initiatives and wants to kill homeless people.

This government is vile and I find myself leaning towards people now taking direct action against this regime. Waiting for an election is now no longer an option and it's time to consider mobilization of unions and protest groups to bring the government down and force reform.

Democracy has been hijacked and is no longer fit for purpose. I'm afraid the forces of fascism are well and truly working against the vast majority of people. They have turned citizens against each other as a means to distract away from the workings of this vile regime.

You only have to look at the protests in London to realise what's coming. You have the EDL backed by Tommy Robinson pitted his protests against Palestinians supporters and yet if you look at what the EDL think of the holocaust....they are deniers. The whole thing is an echo chamber of American politics....two extremes in battle while the government slowly but surely erodes what little we have left.
