Hi mums, as a primary and secondary school teacher I am interested in what mumsnet mums think about your children being exposed to: drag queens reading stories to your little ones; political thoughts and ideas being given to young children which could cause confusion? Would like to hear your thoughts?
Many thanks.^^

Children of 9 years of age are very impressionable and believe what their teachers tell them. This is not an appropriate subject for primary age children.

Hi, no I'm not a journalist but just a concerned teacher of primary and secondary school children. I've just been hearing a number of reports from mums about this and just wanted to know the general view of sensible mums, like yourselves. I own my own very small school so I am in contact with lots of mums and dads.

Problem is noone is going to listen to the mums. It's the dads that need to complain.

I totally agree with you. Why are we allowing some schools to have this in their curriculum?

Oh really - that's an interesting point. However, I do think that a group of sensible women, like yourself, would carry a lot of weight. Speak or write to your MP - I'm certainly going to do this.

Hi I'm certainly not fishing for anything - just the truth of what sensible mums like you think of the situation. I'm a teacher of both primary and secondary aged children and therefore I'm in contact with lots of students and their parents.

“Own” your very own small school?

you’ve not been on here then before or come across the reputation on the internet? Try searching for some. This issue’s been going on for years and there are a couple of representative groups pressuring. Somehow it hasn’t had the success compared to the very small number pushing trans ideology. There’s been some speculation in the past about why this is, and why trans rights have been pushed so far so fast compared to other struggles for rights. Such as women’s, in fact.

@politicalbabe look up

Transgender Trend
Safe Schools Alliance

There is a very strong movement to pull the teaching of gender ideology from schools as it teaches children going through puberty who are having a hard time accepting the changes in their bodies that they are the opposite sex.

The Department for Education also provided guidance in Sept 2020 which set out the rules, also;

You are right I haven't researched ...but need to do this.

You can teach children to be open hearted and open minded in an age appropriate way but the most important thing to teach them is boundaries.
Drag is adult entertainment - it is sexualised and completely inappropriate for kids. It is not panto. I personally despise the concept of both drag queens and panto dames. Both are Womanface as far as I am concerned. I'm prepared to concede panto dames in a panto. Beyond that is giving children a horrible message about what women are.
