Writing to MP what info to include

Hi,
I've never written to an MP before, and was wondering whether there are guidelines on what information you include in your message. For example, regarding a complaint about the way a health issue was handled, would it be appropriate to talk about my own specific experience or is it meant to be more of a general enquiry in the message asking about policies and leaving out personal experience?

The only times I've ever had any contact with an MP was copying and sending a petition type thing, so I am at a bit of a loss but have been inspired to make contact and want to get it right!

What are you hoping to achieve by writing to them

Specific info to your specific situation. Or you'll receive a general copy and paste back.
Tbh, MPs letters are answered by civil servants anyway in most cases. You're better off emailing them directly, or contacting them via their constituency office.
If it's about health it'll be passed on to a civil service dept that deals with that. And so on. (I used to answer MP letters) (I wasn't an MPGrin)

If it's a health issue have you contacted the surgery/health authority/PALS at the hospital first?

Interesting, I want to think things over for a while I think. Its tricky because with Covid affecting things at the moment, I don't want to be too hot headed if this is the key problem. Lots of thoughts and concerns but no clarity at the moment!

Get writing and make your voice heard - on any issue you are concerned about, local or global, right or left...

Be sure to include your name address postcode so they can ensure you are their constituent ..

I have started writing to my mp over this past year to basically engage in the process,, MP replies and often with full information that I can go off and read / research etc.

I don't agree politically with my MP but engaging with them is my democratic right and helps me feel more engaged in the process

I've started following my MP on social media which is a start. Its all new to me, I've voted in the past of course but honestly never really felt like it made a difference, or that my voice even could be heard, but I am starting to realise now that the squeakiest wheel gets the oil, so if I want to see change, I need to start speaking up.
