How much evidence of corruption is needed?

The exceptional procurement without accountability is already jawdropping with millions of pounds being handed over to totally inappropriate shell companies of 'mates' - with zero experience of manufacturing the PPE required - whilst established UK companies have been shunned.

Now this. Actual confirmation of cronyism, friends lists, subverting due diligence and allowing markups in awarding contracts.

No matter which political party you support this is corruption, arrogant corruption of the highest order. I am in utter despair that media coverage consists of little lukewarm snippets.

Surely these are prisonable offences? Profiteering was tantamount to treason during the wars.

Do you think this is serious and should be getting more exposure?

Yes and yes. Unfortunately I feel like we the masses have no means of doing anything about it.

its so sickening. We are so reliant on the media for exposure. I cant understand why this isnt a headline story. I am hardly awash with cash but will certainly support the goodlawproject as they seem the only ones with the ability and some teeth. Perhaps there are some decent people left who will also say enough is enough and whistleblow so loudly the media cannot continue to ignore,

That's only money - according to Sturgeon today there "is no evidence that sending patients from hospitals to care homes caused a rise in Covid infections".

For real?

Wherrsmaclickypen · 29/10/2020 23:18

It seems improbable that there is no link between sending patients to care homes and the increase in COVID there although I suppose it's possible there is no data to confirm that. But I don't understand what that has to do with the lack of media coverage about UK government procurement?

I agree. It's extremely serious. It's theft of huge amounts of public money, basically. And those doing this knew that they were buying PPE from people who knew nothing about how to produce it. The massive fuck-ups that have resulted from this have cost lives. Probably lots of lives. I find it hard to believe that direct back-handers aren't involved.
Why isn't there a public agency that scrutinises public procurement?
