So much for a people's vote and the country has changed its mind over Brexit. Ha!

Has everyone got the message by now then? Yes? Great.

1 minutes silence for mumsnet HQ and the Corbyn fans on mumsnet Wink

Paddybare · 13/12/2019 00:08

I’d be careful of being too smug, we’re all going to pay a price for Brexit. Not that any of you will ever admit it when it happens.

BonnesVacances · 13/12/2019 00:11

So much for people saying they didn't want a People's Vote, despite treating this GE like one. Hmm

berrylands · 13/12/2019 02:52

But you didn't know what you were voting for

StarbucksSmarterSister · 13/12/2019 03:03

we’re all going to pay a price for Brexit. Not that any of you will ever admit it when it happens.

They'll say it's the fault of Remainers, the EU and Ireland.

The Tory government will blame the above plus "the people", saying 'we only did it because the people demanded it'

GruffaIoChrimbo · 13/12/2019 03:09

So what were you voting for and do you really think you are going to get it on 31st January?

cdtaylornats · 13/12/2019 09:51

They knew what they were voting against.

No one wanted Corbyn's 1960s schoolboy Marxism.

berrylands · 13/12/2019 10:23

@cdtaylornats
What do you mean when you say 1960's schoolboy marxism?
When I look at Corbyn's policies they look like normal social democratic policies to me. Not as advanced as what they have in nordic countries or other places in Europe though.
I'm not trying to be argumentative here, just would like to understand.

ChristmasSpirtsOnTheRocksPleas · 13/12/2019 10:28

Brexit wasn’t a consideration in my voting.

ohwheniknow · 13/12/2019 10:29

Are you trying to sound gormless?

BubblesBuddy · 13/12/2019 11:50

They are not social democratic because they rely far too much on one section of society paying heavily for another section of society. Therefore it’s perceived as unfair and divisive and the policies were far too expensive and scatter gun. People worked out it was too far left, old school Marxist with too much state control. That’s not acceptable or democratic - in the modern sense that we understand now. It’s more Marxist in approach snd state control isn’t what everyone wants. Labour get elected when middle ground policies are adopted. Not wealth bashing divisive ones. That’s why TB won but labour don’t learn!!!

ElfAndSafeKey · 14/12/2019 16:52

But you don't.
We don't know yet what the trade deal and future relationship will look like.
I am 100% damn sure that not every single person is not going to be happy with the deal we end up with.
Boris has kept very quiet about the finer details and just given soundbites like "get Brexit done"
I voted remain but don't care too much now, BTW.

This is from November 2019. How many people took it on board amidst all the pzazz of Tory promises to fund more nurses?

'Tory minister admits extra nurses won’t be in place for 10 years and cannot explain how government will stop 18,500 leaving'

'Further questions raised over Conservatives’ nursing pledge after manifesto promise is branded ‘frankly deceitful’

,
'Boris Johnson’s promise to employ an extra 50,000 NHS nurses has unravelled further after a cabinet minister suggested that the pledge would not be met for 10 years.

Nicky Morgan, the culture secretary, said the additional nurses would be in place “if you look in 10 years’ time” and struggled to explain how the government would convince current nurses not to leave.'

Maybe it's just my tame Bxt Supporter who is extremely ignorant. I only have one pet Brexiter who I can stand to quiz (DS)

I asked DS "So what should happen at end of December 2020?" He didn't understand why I was asking, what important thing could happening then. Eventually I gave him enough prompts that he said he hoped for 'No Deal'.

If I asked him what the single market is... he wouldn't know.

If I asked him what it was like living in UK before GFA... he wouldn't know.

If I asked him what 'passporting' is... he wouldn't have a clue.

If I asked him the difference between European Court of Justice & European Court of Human Rights... wouldn't have a clue.

tbf, DS was too young to vote in 2016. If he had voted he might have been relieved that "Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the single market" (Daniel Hannaan quote). Might have been reassured when Aaron Banks said “Increasingly the Norway option looks the best for the UK”. if DS had researched he might have been pleased at the careful 'Flexcit' plan that Leave.EU had planned out. A plan that explicitly called for a 2nd referendum to give public approve of the withdrawal agreement.

A colleague said she would vote Leave to "give the establishment a kicking." She continued, "I don't want to leave the EU at all, I just think the politicians need a kick."

I wonder what she thinks she voted for, now.

Can people FINALLY stop saying "but you didn't know what you were voting for"
