We would actually vote Tory if he was elected. We first noticed him when he made a fascinating programme on Laurence of Arabia but his experience and recognition abroad seems to be little recognised in this country. There is an interesting article in the Guardian today which I would love to have linked but stupidly I don’t know how to do it.
However, am interested in how many of you have noticed him and would support him if given the chance.

Oh, yeah, he's got the quiet determination to fuck someone else's wife and the poor, the working poor, the disabled, the sick, all sorts. Charming as an angry spitting cobra.

Oops, it doesn't look great when you put it that way, OralB, I must admit. I wish I hadn't mentioned that now!

You seem to have a very black and white view, where politicians are concerned. I see things differently. I think it's possible someone can have a different political outlook to me, but still be a decent person. I think there are very few pure saints around, and few people that are pure evil - most people have a mix of good and bad stuff in them. ☺

These politicians are instituting legislation, Defen, have instituted legislation and continued to do so that has resulted in a large number of deaths, Defen, soaring rates of homelessness and food bank usage, misery, job losses and poverty, huge cutbacks in services like the police/mental health/social care and NHS care and you see it as simply 'a different political outlook' and a 'black and white view'? Wow. These are people who have power, Defen, real power and are using it to kill people and make a great many more miserable and sick but hey, as long as they come across well on camera even though they're not conventionally handsome . . . Hmm

OralB, Many unpopular austerity measures were brought in after the economic crash caused by the bankers in 2008. The bankers and their irresponsible reckless practices caused a lot of misery and governments around the world had to take difficult decisions.

The NHS and social services are at breaking point for many reasons, the main one being that we have an ageing population needing increased levels of support due to dementia etc. No matter which party is in power in the UK, I doubt that any one of them will admit the horrible truth, that to keep our NHS and social services going taxes need to go up. At least Rory tried to spell out the truth of the matter about Brexit, and when people asked questions about future tax cuts.

The labour government officials famously left a note when they left office, reading something along the lines of "No money left!" For years the labour government proudly boasted about how well the country was doing, financially, but despite that, they didn't put any money aside for a rainy day and when the crisis hit they claimed it was none of their doing that the country was broke.

Universal credit has been a total mess and caused a lot of misery, and I do blame that on the tories. I just don't think that they are responsible for everything that's wrong with this country, that's too simplistic a view.

Can you be a good, genuine person if you are a Conservative MP? I thought you had to be a ruthless b'stad who is happy to let the underprivileged die so long as large corps are happy. Their take on capitalism is a very nasty one.

As the debates continue and we see the desperation and hopelessness of the contenders we should be missing Rory Stewart even more.
