Why don't people like Nick Clegg

I know there is a thread on him already but not sure that OP will like me hijacking hers.

Why don't people like Nick Clegg?

I am not a Lib Demer so wouldn't vote for them, but I actually quite like him. He seemed quite honest and level headed to me, not on a power trip like most of the other MPs. I know he renegaded on uni fees but when it comes to lying through your arse and U turns, he seems to be better than the others.

What have I missed. I felt really sorry for him at the election.

I don't like him because:
He told a pathetic lie about the number of women he had had sex with. Claimed it was 'No more than 30' 'notches on his bedpost'. Turned out to be 3 . Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic liar.
He told a lie about being an arsonist- claimed he set fire to a valuable collection of cactus plants in a Victorian hothouse in Germany and was given community service. The family he was staying with said they recalled a few over-turned pots and that their father had made Clegg and their brother do a bit of digging in the garden as punishment. Patheic liar!
He pretends to not be posh. He comes from a posh, very wealthy family - wealthier background than Cameron

Most of all I hate him because he got into bed with the Tories. They laughed at him and treated him like shit but he was prepared to get into bed with them on a power kick and shore them up while they made the rich richer and destroyed our public services. Shame on him!

Weak pathetic man.

Yes - I personally would prefer to see free tuition at university rather than 30 hours of nursery or whatever it is now. I didn't go to nursery (a lot of people didn't then) but got a degree for free instead.

I personally think starting school at five (or four) is early enough - I'd invest back in the Sure Starts instead, for early intervention. I know free nursery is a popular policy though - just saying there are other models.

(I also support Universal Basic Income, and I think that would solve a lot of childcare issues.)

That was in reply to NoLottery.

lulujakey and do you believe the naughtiest thing TM has ever done is running through wheat fields?

wtffgs · 10/06/2017 21:17

It's where I grew up and solidly Tory for years. The LDs and lazy wealth took the seat for granted. I am stunned and delighted by the result.

LuluJakey1 · 10/06/2017 21:20

No and I couldn't give a toss what it is as long as it isn't illegal or completely immoral.

I object to Clegg bragging, embellishing and lying to create pathetic impressions of laddishness. It is utterly weak.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2017 22:53

Accio - yes... and re 'But the right-wing press leapt on the opportunity ...' it's rather ironic that this tactic has allowed Corbyn to trumpet 'free tuition' to bribe the youth vote (well, the ones who can't see the problems with it) - which has badly bitten the right wing in the bum this time.

noblegiraffe · 11/06/2017 00:00

He told a pathetic lie about the number of women he had had sex with.

Why was anyone asking how many women he had sex with? Confused and why would anyone care if he lied? That's the most bizarre thing I've read on this thread.

BoysofMelody · 11/06/2017 01:56

Why was anyone asking how many women he had sex with?

To which the only answer is 'none of your fucking business sunshine'

NoLotteryWinYet · 11/06/2017 07:39

Yes I looked it up and couldn't believe he answered that muck raking question!

I still don't think we've got any honesty in the debate about how much taxes need to rise for our existing public services to become affordable so wholesale handing out of new entitlements is crazy - you may be happy to live in a much higher tax culture but Corbyn isn't being honest about how much taxes need to go up on everyone. We'll see I guess.

Yes, katharina, I have 2 dc and mine have always been in nursery but I don't think incentivising everyone to put them in 30 hours a week from 2 is necessarily desirable as a society.

LuluJakey1 · 12/06/2017 22:36

Boys that is exactly the answer he should have given but the idiot answered the question with a ridiculous lie which exposed his need to appear to be something he isn't but would like to be. He did it again with the lie about the arson - again something pathetic he chose to exaggerate.

It says a great deal about him to me that he wanted oeople to thinkmthis was in some way admirable behaviour - laddish? I don't know but that us what he wanted people to think.

Then he joined forces with the posh rich boys who are just nasty shits imho.
