Make America Great Again
That was four words.

Squishy has I have said to you (several times) before, if you personally don't want to engage, nobody is forcing. Why do you keep coming back?

Tim Farron voted for LGBT rights and TM has historically voted against them. I think that's all we need to know.

optionalrationale · 07/05/2017 22:20

Which one is right LondonNicki? The Bible or Tim?
It can't be both

OP posts:
LondonNicki · 07/05/2017 22:23

I don't give the bible any consideration at all when making voting decisions. I support politicians who will vote according to my own values.

TheCrowFromBelow · 07/05/2017 22:26

Who cares Confused
Not sure the future of this country revolves around TFs opinions on Bumsex.
Theresa May on the other hand is bent on shafting everyone up the arras.
And she goes to church every Sunday, and she's so keen to tell us, after she's worshipped at the gym.

tabulahrasa · 07/05/2017 22:27

By your logic, every Christian would have to follow every law and teaching in the Old Testament...just so you know, it is very much treated as a pick and mix deal because they follow the New Testament.

Hope that helps Hmm

LondonNicki · 07/05/2017 23:14

Honestly I don't believe the bible so if it's important to you maybe you should post this in a religious section. To me it's fairy tales and a way for the church to exert control over populations which did not elec them.

Epipgab · 08/05/2017 09:55

Which one is right LondonNicki? The Bible or Tim? It can't be both

Yes, it can be both.

Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement

stitchglitched · 08/05/2017 10:02

Tim Farron voted for LGBT rights'

Actually I would say his voting record on the issue was patchy at best.

"By your logic, every Christian would have to follow every law and teaching in the Old Testament"

The thread is not about every Christian. It's about Timmy Farron.

Today 09:55 Epipgab Yes, it can be both
Are you saying
A) Timmy is now right. Gay sex is no longer not a sin?
B) The Bible is also right. Gay sex is a sin.Hmm
C) The Bible is also right. Gay sex was never a sin

Please explain positions B and C.
If the correct answer is C why did it take TF so long to share?

OP posts:
tabulahrasa · 08/05/2017 19:35

"The thread is not about every Christian. It's about Timmy Farron."

And his belief system?...

Or you're just rambling randomly?

One or the other.

Epipgab · 08/05/2017 21:38

Why don't you write and ask him?

He hasn't responded.

You said yesterday, that the Bible and Timmy Farron could both be right. Which of the following flow logically?
A) Timmy is nowright. Gay sex is no longer not a sin?
B) The Bible is also right. Gay sex is a sin.
C) The Bible is also right. Gay sex was never a sin

I am also interested in what voters think.
What do you think Epipgab?

The bible says you should not wear clothes made of two types of fibre Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:9-11. In Leviticus is is "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."
Do you wear any clothes made of cotton and artificial fibres? Are they all stitched with cotton (or matching fibre to the cloth)?
Do you eat lasagne? Or Bacon? Or prawns?
Do you gossip?
Have you ever called your brother a "fool"?

The bible isn't actually that clear on homosexuality as a lot of other sexual "sin". It does seem pretty clear that homosexual "rape" is wrong, not so clear on anything else though.

Would you ask the Reverend Richard Coles if he thought gay sex was a sin? And he is more qualified than Tim Farron to comment on what is sin.

optionalrationale · 09/05/2017 21:50

Yeah I watched that episode of The West Wing too. Love it.

Tim Farron generally voted for equal gay rights

TheyWorkForYou has automatically calculated this MP’s stance based on all of their votes on the topic. You can browse the source data on PublicWhip.org.uk.

stitchglitched · 10/05/2017 01:01

He voted against the equality act and abstained from the final vote on gay marriage. I think that's pretty appalling for the leader of the so called liberal party tbh.

optionalrationale · 10/05/2017 20:19

It was his hesitation and thrashing about for 3-4 days that spoke volumes. He is clearly in knots thinking about this stuff and wondering if what he "should" (according to his organised religion) is what will win hi, more votes.

Are you a Tory trying to dissuade people tactically voting Lib Dem? Because to be honest in this election it is probably okay to hold your nose and vote for whoever has the most chance of coming closest to your opinions.
Tim and Jeremy both seem like genuine and nice people, I'm not so sure about Theresa (that could be an understatement), and I do quite like Nicola, Leanne and Caroline too. I just picture any of them visiting my child's school and would I be happy with them reading a story to them...if so I could at a pinch vote for them.
Tim has gay friends who vouch for him. And I do have problems with some of the views of all the other leaders. Do look at They Work For You though to genuinely explore the issues.
