I know at this time it's probably only the hardcore still up but I'm curious, would you describe yourself as one of these 'shy Tory voters' we are starting to hear about?

I'm a Tory voter, nothing shy about me though! Grin

AgentProvocateur · 08/05/2015 02:08

No! Demographically, I should be, but it's SNP for me Wink

Kampeki · 08/05/2015 02:14

No, but I get why some Tory voters are ashamed to admit it.

BakewellSlice · 08/05/2015 02:22

There are a lot of shy UKIP voters too, especially in Labour heartlands.

Flingingmelon · 08/05/2015 02:27

I wouldn't describe myself as ashamed to admit it, I just know the minute I tell people I usually get abuse.

No I'm a never would I vote Tory type voter, myself.

I'm not sure it's necessarily "shy" voter, but I suspect a higher number of the undecided, don't knows vote Tory on the day. People who are not politically engaged but still bother to vote. It is an interesting phenomenon. I do think people who are more likely to vote for other parties are proud to say who they will vote for and make up there minds earlier.

I must confess I suspected that this time round, the surprise would be how many people decided to actually vote LibDem, whilst the opposite has happened.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 08/05/2015 06:53

A lot of people were scared into voting Tory, fear of Labour and the SNP.

Icantstopeatinglol · 08/05/2015 07:03

I agree with flingingmelon, in my experience most people in my area vote labour and are very vocal about it. If you vote Tory you get no end of abuse. It isn't right at all. Everyone should be able to vote for who they want and that be it. Isn't that what democracy is all about.

A lot of the fault is our progressive media and the BBC in particular. Those politically correct comedians they always put on, the hyped Russell Brand and all the left wing propaganda they push where their "comedians" call Tories c**nts etc

That encourages a lot of left wingers to think they are the majority, when in fact it is conservatives who are the silent majority.

The Conservatves haven't got he curage to change anything at the BBC so the left wing progressive propaganda will still be pumped out by those highl paid public servants.

claig · 08/05/2015 07:15

Of course Channel 4 isn't much better

claig · 08/05/2015 07:17

Channel 4 News, Newsnight all left wing bias. This election has shown the real makeup of the majority and it is not left wing.

silveroldie2 · 08/05/2015 08:53

Definitely not - I'm a loud and proud Tory voter and so happy this morning. Seeing Ed Balls lose his seat was the highlight.

ShellyBoobs · 08/05/2015 09:38

My OH hasn't stopped laughing since news broke of Ed Balls' demise.

Flingingmelon · 08/05/2015 14:07

Must admit, this is the happiest my DH has been since DS was born. Smile

Claig At least it provides some balance to the tory press.

I can see why people feel afraid to admit it, there is a lot of namecalling which I disagree with. I wonder if it is partly because some (wealthier) people know they are voting for selfish reasons rather than the "good of the nation" and feel guilty about it. I would think a lot of people would vote for the party which will ultimately make them richer. But it can be hard to admit that in the face of the poor getting poorer.

grimbletart · 08/05/2015 15:42

I must admit that the crowing in 1997 over Michael Portillo - "were you there for the Portillo moment?" gave me a sense of deja vu i.e. "were you there for the Ed Balls moment?" Schadenfreude or what?
