Ok here's the thing. 4 months ago I answered a Labour Party questionnaire asking my opinion on various issues and whether I would be voting for them. I truthfully said 'don't know' (and still don't) but did think it was good they were interested in asking people's views. Ever since then I have had regular emails asking me to donate to the Labour Party and/or to volunteer to help promote them. Erm.... I don't even know if I would vote for them so why would I want to donate or promote them!!! Surely there must be a more clever way of triggering additions to the mailing lists than that? Surely they should be bombarding me with reasons to vote for them or something? Or am I being over demanding?! Grin

'Surely they should be bombarding me with reasons to vote for them or something? Or am I being over demanding?'

Thye have no reasons.
You're not being over demanding, they are with their emails requesting donations and for your free time to volunteer for the Champagne Charlies.

You're not wrong and it's not just political parties who don't seem to understand how people's minds work.

A few times now I've made donations to charities who have then plagued me with text messages and emails with more sad stories trying to guilt me into making more donations and preferably regular direct debits.

The problem is that it had the exact opposite effect. It made me less likely to want to donate because firstly I don't like to feel pressured and secondly i resented what is in effect spam.
