Yes to what? (ignorant)

There's a referendum in the Republic of Ireland tomorrow about whether to accept the new EU Financial Plan

www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/18260565

A yes vote (supported by all the mainstream political parties and all the mass media) would agree to the continuity of EU constraints on Ireland and the EU would agree to bale the country out in future as necessary.

A no vote would strike a note of independence which might or might not lead to a default/ exit from the Euro.

However I believe this treaty doesn't require unanimity among Eurozone member states so it may not matter too much what the result is. If it did matter no doubt Irealnd would be made to rerun the referendum again and again until they got the "right" answer.

Very funny!

I hope Ireland votes the 'right' way because, as you point out, they'll only have to do it again if they don't. That's democracy, you know.

It would be good if canvassers for both sides stopped banging on the door today. You would think there would be 2 canvassers maximum per day when its a Yes/No vote but you would be wrong....

With a few tweaks I can see Salmond adapting that for his 'yes' campaign... 'have you ever seen Mad Max, have you?'
