it's all here

I don't see how Waitrose can claim to be ethical and continue this relationship. Can mumsnet towers not do something about this given that Waitrose are a partner of theirs?

Shell have commited human rights abuses and totally and utterly f*cked the Niger Delta. Waitrose should have nothing to do with them!

Bramshott I'm not sure. M&S partner with someone as well, possibly BP?

As a Waitrose shopper this doesn't bother me specifically, I would rather be able to buy their goods than crappy Ginsters etc when I stop to fill up my car.

The whole issue around oil companies, how they behave, their ethics etc is a separate issue for me.
IMO the only thing that will impact the oil companies is when we have plentiful sources of renewable energy.

That is something to campaign about, rather which brand of bread and milk you can pick up on your way home.

Right! I'm signing up Soph! I think it's bloody outrageous that Waitrose claim to be ethical and caring for the environment would get into bed with a company as unethical as Shell. Shell do not care which lands they decimate and they do not give back. Angry

I hope that more MNers get behind this as well.

I have signed up too. Thank you for raising it sophable and thanks Mars for alerting me on FB about the campaign. One of the reasons I shop at Waitrose is belief in their environmental and ethical credentials.
I met Ken Saro-Wiwa's daughter through work many years ago in London and what happened to her father has stayed with me ever since Angry
