Chris Huhne was a total disaster with his green taxes - frankly, the only more deluded person in the Cabinet is Vince Cable.

The reason he has had to resign is fairly comical, but however it happened: he has gone. The Cabinet has lost a SDP commie type - hooray!

Can't comment on the green taxes and doubt a millionaire businessman is a 'commie' but he doesn't appear to be well liked. Not least by his ex-wife. How exactly did the information about the alleged offence get into the public domain? Did she spill the beans in a fit of pique?

Yes, she decided to destroy him, and has succeeded most admirably. She will be charged herself, but will do doubt get away with a slap on the wrist if that - whilst at a very minimum, his career is ruined, and hopefully, if convicted he will get a long jail sentence where he can ruminate at length on why it is unwise to be unliked by absolutely everyone.

As the normal sentence for perverting the course of justice is custodial I doubt the exW would get a 'slap on the wrist' if found to have conspired with Huhne. If destruction was her aim (and from what I've read it's not quite that black and white) then it's going to be mutual and she may be regretting saying anything in the first place. Don't think schadenfreude is called for either way.

The prosecution no doubt want her to be their main witness - I am not a lawyer, and don't know how much immunity can be granted, but I have no doubt that they will go as easy as possible on Vicky Pryce if it means she confesses and they can then convict Chris Huhne.
