Why do millions of people struggling to pay their biils turn up to watch a very priviledged couple plus their rich entourage celebrate a marriage ?

AF, I am surprised you can see to type with your tongue up the royal arse. :)

Absolutelyfabulous · 30/04/2011 22:36

I use my hands to type newwave Hmm

newwave · 30/04/2011 22:46

I was referring to seeing the screen as opposed to the royal arse :)

Chil1234 · 01/05/2011 06:18

"What would get me cheering ? a Muse concert or a great football match."

A football match run by capitalist oppressors, financed by warmongers, exploiting the working classes out of their hard-earned cash in order to watch a team of over-privileged, tax-avoiding players? Yes, I can see how that works better.

Longtalljosie · 01/05/2011 06:33

Niceguy is right. The wedding will have been a net benefit to the economy. In fact, given the economic situation it was probably Wills' duty to get married! Grin

dotnet · 01/05/2011 07:22

I didn't watch (or listen) throughout the day either, I was a little bit nosy about it though in that I read all about it in the papers yesterday. On the day itself I listened to a Teach yourself German tape. Ooh, but hang on...I never thought - so I was being all Royal Family after all....

People do love a spectacle, and that 'united in a common interest' thing. Being in a crowd of people who are happy, is a lot of fun.

Drooling over robber barons' descendants is still barmy though. As a nation we must need our bumps feeling.

Chil - I was going to say that Smile.

Absolutelyfabulous · 01/05/2011 10:54

Chil - brilliant! Grin

Last time I checked we lived in a Capitalist society, not a communist or socialist one, thank god.
Some people will be richer, smarter, cleverer and altogether luckier than you. Deal with it.

claig · 01/05/2011 11:31

Well said Chil. Keep it real Smile

KnittingRocks · 01/05/2011 15:33

Grin at "drooling over robber barons' descendants!!

It's nothing to do with being richer, smarter or cleverer (they're definitely not the latter!!) it's to do with inheriting public office.

It's not a complicated argument, it really isn't.

jackstarb · 01/05/2011 16:49

What have the following in common.

Belgium
Denmark,
Netherlands
Norway
Sweden
Japan
New Zealand

Apart from being well regarded democracies with high levels of income equality - they are all constitutional monarchies.

Normally the 'lefties' on here are singing these countries praises and criticising the 'evil' American republic.

Confused.

newwave · 01/05/2011 18:25

Child.

Please try not to be a bigger fool than you already appear. I have no problem whatsoever with capitalists of capitalism I do however has a major problem with capitalism and capitalists when they:

Tax evade/avoid.
Pay crap wages.
Exploit their workforces.
Damage the environment.
Award themselves undeserved bonuses.
Award themselves huge salaries and salary increases whilst enforcing pay freezes on the workforce.

No doubt in your rather small minded world this is acceptable.

As for your acolytes please try to have an intelligent thought of your own, no maybe not it would only get lonely. Maybe you should just stick to dribbling and drooling over the wedding.

Is the MoS giving out instructions in forelock tugging and grovelling for the brain dead royalists amongst you.

newwave · 01/05/2011 18:25

Chil

LynetteScavo · 01/05/2011 18:35

It entertainment, innit.

I watch Cheryl Cole spouting shite on X-Factor, and listen to the contestants sing so I can rip them apart if they are awful and enjoy them if they are any good.

If Simon Cowel ever go married, and I had a day off I would probably watch that too. Well, maybe not, actually. Grin

I think the thing that fascinated my about the Royal wedding was that whatever dress Kate and the bridesmaids wore would then be copied by thousands of other brides for the next decade. Ditto her hair and flowers. It was going to be a trend setting moment in every way.

Chil1234 · 01/05/2011 19:30

"No doubt in your rather small minded world this is acceptable."

Just because I took the piss out of you cheering at football matches, there's no need to get huffy. :) Although everything you list could still be laid at the door of the average capitalist Premiership club. Avoiding taxes, damaging the environment and I'm sure support staff like the groundsmen, security guards and cleaners would love the same wages and 'undeserved bonuses' that the top stars get. Altruism is a rare commodity in any field.

BTW.. just because someone enjoys my joke at your expense doesn't make them my 'acolyte'.

sahm3 · 03/05/2011 11:33

I think if i were a common man i would be thrilled that it wasnt my daughter! Mr Middleton is now faced with having to do that all over again some time soon with Pippa, and surely as younger sister, she will want bigger and better?

ajandjjmum · 03/05/2011 11:43

The Wedding brought £600 million into the country. Taxes will be collected from that, providing a clear net gain to the economy.

The day also showcased what Britain does well - brilliant for 2012 and tourism - which will also benefit the economy.

Shame those who find no pleasure in the apparent happiness of others can't just turn off the tv and enjoy the sunshine.

cedarcottage · 05/05/2011 22:38

newwave...I've had it with you now, I'm signing off. i can't bear the way you carry on. Please go and live somewhere else, as you clearly are never going to be happy with this fabulous country. The wedding gave a feel-good feeling, that, quite apart from anything else, is so important, and, certainly where I come from there was true community spirit...but you probably don't believe in that either. You poor, poor thing. you may feel better if you had something nice to say...ever.Grin

cedarcottage, I understand where you are coming from.
newwave does have a tendency to describe the Queen as a squatter and good Tories and Tory voters as filth and scum, which is so far removed from reality that it almost resembles a New Labour budget.

Niceguy2 · 06/05/2011 10:03

I wouldn't worry about it smallwhitecat. Personally I find it highly amusing how newwave is so vehemently lefty socialist yet fails to see the irony in the fact his/her personal financial good fortune is largely as a result of inherited money....rather than through the hard graft of others such as Richard Branson, Philip Caudwell etc. Plus despite despising city bankers and all their ilk, poor old newwave has to go to work and deal with them! Fancy that!

Basically Newwave is your typical socialist. They believe everyone should be equal, the rich should be forced to pay more tax. Just as long as they personally are more equal and the line where "rich" is drawn doesn't mean them.

newwave · 06/05/2011 17:25

NG2 dont be a twat

Yes I was lucky (it was £132K which paid off my mortgage) but for all that I have never had a day out of work since I finished my education.

Rather than through the hard graft of others such as Richard Branson, Philip Caudwell etc.

No comparison and I work bloody hard to reach my work targets that is why I mostly post late evening when I have finished work.

*Plus despite despising city bankers and all their ilk, poor old newwave has to go to work and deal with them! Fancy that!

I dont deal with them, I design and sell BMS systems to the construction trade and to end users.*

I dont despise bankers per se only those who screwed up the economy but beleive it is ok to keep on demanding huge rewards for doing so.

Basically Newwave is your typical socialist. They believe everyone should be equal, the rich should be forced to pay more tax. Just as long as they personally are more equal and the line where "rich" is drawn doesn't mean them.

The above is utter bollocks as I have said many times, I will inherit my Mothers house one day but I will not try to avoid any due taxes through suspect legislation. I earn between £43K and £56K per year my partner about £48K very nice but hardly Branson.

One final point I have never called Tory voters scum only Tory politicians.

By all means attack my positions and politics but please do so on what I have said and done not on fallacies which you now do and have done before.

No doubt you will repeat your bullshit sooner or later.
