Just heard on a radio news report that Cameron took 8 arms dealers to Egypt with him on his recent visit.

I may be very naiive but isn't that rather inappropriate or are we really stooping so low ? I'm sure that some on here will tell me we can't waste an opportunity for business and exports but it just doesn't seem right to me.

Who's he going to see next Gaadafi?

Gaddafi-hugging already covered by T Blair ... remember him?... and his Scottish buddies, of course, Salmond and Galloway. As for DC taking arms-dealers on a trip of the Middle-East - slightly audacious but countries buy arms, our industry is well-regulated, and we might as well get the contracts as anyone else.

Like Chil1234. says Blair has already been in bed with Gadaafi!

can see noone rose to your bait chil so far be it from me to. your realpolitiking is pure common sense in a world gone mad and bad but i'm a naive type and would like to see a better one if only for my child.

Oh, I see.

Selling arms on Britain's streets is bad.
Selling arms to Gulf States is good.

Countries have armies. Armies use weapons. Smalltime gangsters running around shooting other smalltime gangsters can't be comparted. In an ideal world with no conflict, no country would need an army and we'd all live in perfect harmony. But it ain't...

Weapons which could be used by despotic leaders against their own people, possibly in the case of a popular uprising. At the International Defence Exhibition and Conferance in Abu Dhabi, where Britain's Defence Minister is currently trying to flog weapons, the Chairman of the Pakistani Ordnance Factories, Lt Gen Shujaat Zamir Dar, described one as "very suitable for internal security."
