Does anyone know if Bookstart has escaped unscathed? I haven't been able to find out any details yet.

Hiya, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm at University studying Journalism and doing an essay on how removal of funding for Booktrust will affect children's literacy. Could anyone answer a few questions for me, I would be extremely grateful! Its just for my essay for uni.

  1. How often do you receive books from booktrust?
  2. How long have you been receiving books from booktrust?
  3. Do you think its a good service and how disappointed will you be at its loss?
  4. Would you say the books have made a big difference to your child(s) life and impacted their learning?

These answers will only be used in my essay and nothing will be published at all. You would be doing me a huge favour as I'm struggling to find people to interview who use Booktrust.
Thanks so much!

Vikki012: the Government is not withdrawing funding, and has said a new announcement on future funding mechanisms will be made in the spring.

For two-thirds of its existence, Bookstart was not Govt-funded. My guess is that the current aim will be to return to this pre-2004 position, but with transitional funding (as original plan was too abrupt and could have severely damaged / ended its work).
