So, under the new TC rules we will be reclassified as a non working familly eh?

So I am a carer, twice over as have 2 disabled ds's. I am also studying so I can get a job that will cover a Nanny (only childcare we can access).

DH was made redundant from a specialised field that then relocated; he is now retraining 40 hours a week. When he gets back he starts work on his own business, does every hour someone needs his kit, about 20 p/w ATM.

Non working? Really?

Are they- sure?

At the very least couples where one is a carer or disabled should surely be exempt from this rule in the way single parents are? The Government talks about us being important to teh economy and we do save them a small fortune- so why isn;t that acknowledged in this very simple way?

Pre- ASD we each worked FT hours. We will again, but no idea when this odd change comes in.

"How is ds2 meant to pay for bus fares to get to 6th form?"

Squeeze some money out of those wealthy grandparents. That's what parents are supposed to do... make sacrifices for their family and help their children and grandchildren if they're in trouble. Put some pressure on them

Chil, Riv's in-laws aren't exactly- on side, What with ehr refusing to have dd2 adopted, and all.

We don;t ahve wealthy grandparents: we have mine (pensions collapse), FIL (newly enaged, new mortgage at 55), and MIL (retired, divorced at 60, broke)

A husband and his wealthy family that won't help financially when children are disabled and living in poverty are beneath contempt. No wonder you are so depressed. Don't keep blaming the government - your problems are much closer to home.

woooooah. So to get workign tax credit you now have to work 24 hours instead of 16? That's me fucked then. From when???? Even as a single parent? How on earth do they think that will help anyone get back to work???

Doobydoo · 20/10/2010 17:52

Didn't think so.I do not understand how wealthly pensioners will have this and others that could do with it won't.
SHITS

ImGideonsMumAndIHateHimToo · 20/10/2010 17:52

Not as a single aprent

It also emans we lose disability tax credits- all in all, I think we stand to lose £6k a year; the same amount as the rent.

it has to be a combined total of 24hrs between you I think for WTC.

Still doesn't help when there's not many jobs around and you either have to take a part time 16-20hrs a week job or nothing......

Single parents will apparently have their benefits capped to £350 a week - nice (not!). Will leave me £15 a week worse off....but my rent/lha is low, very low. Feel Sad and Angry for those living in more expensive areas.

Oh - whooopy - and extra £30 on CTC............but then reducing childcare element to 70% - so bang - there's the "savings" gone.

HappyMummyOfOne · 20/10/2010 19:02

Even capped at £350 though, thats more than many people get for working a full week so still more than generous for staying home.

Have only caught bits so far, EMA was bound to go but CB remains for over 16 so parents will still get government support if their children want to go to college.

Raising the hours for tax credits makes sense, lots purely work the minimum needed and 24 hours is still part time.

Only seen bits so far, the news seems to have bits only rather than a full review.

Doobydoo · 20/10/2010 19:16

It's bollocks

uyter · 20/10/2010 19:17

I don't think its that unfair as 24 hours a week is less than 5 hours a day
