CHILDCARE ELEMENT OF WORKING TAX LOWERED TO 70%

how on earth will this encourage single mothers back to work? I also hear the hours to qualify for working tax have been raised but yet they go on about how they want single mothers off benefit and into work
, how will making them pay more childcare and work more hours help?

ermm yes many speak of help with benefits and childcare - because really - lets face it 11k a year (after tax) isn't really an awful lot to live on if you're paying out for full time childcare, housing costs etc.

does anyone know when these are actually kicking in?? x

and dreamingofsun, thats ok for you to sit and badmouth people that are relying on tax creds, i take it your not a lp because i am, i work 23 hours and pay full rent, take home 550 and rent is 510, please show me how i am ment to pay all my bills, pay £100 a week childcare, feed and clothe both me and my ds on the 40 quid thats left over??

do you seriously think we all sit at home and think of the ways to screw money out of the gov? or we all dream of being a lp when we grow up, most people aren't greedy they would just like to keep their heads above water.

and as for you overhearing convos, its true that working more hours affects benefits, but thats the govs error not ours, working the extra 2 hours for some people means they loose whatever benefits they are on meaning they then have to pay out for everything which the cost of the extra 2 hours wouldnt cover. seriously i know i'm ranting but its so annoying hearing people talk like we're lazy slobs screwing the system, when i for one certainly am not!!!

agree that it should be worthwhile for people to work rather than claim benefits - as you say in your last para. that was my point exactly.

holy crap Sad. My childcare fee's are £££ as it is, going down to 70% is going to be a killer.

I didn't think they would penalise single parents.

My hourly childcare costs are far higher than my hourly wage, the more I work the more I will be out of pocket.

Better call the tax credits people in the morning and see what sort of timescale we are looking at.
