Nick Clegg has lost the plot

He has been reported as saying he would be "happy to forgo child benefit", the inference being that others should as well.

Sounds good. But the threshold that has been bandied around is 26k family income.

Clegg is on a salary of 130k+. His wife has been reported as earning 300k+. So with a conservative estimate of family income of 400k+, how can he POSSIBLY suggest that someone with a family income of 26k should be happy to give up child benefit.

If they scrap it, we will lose £250 a month. Not much when you have a family income of £400k, but to ordinary people, that is HARD. And maybe it is inevitable, but to suggest we should be pleased to hand it back, because Clegg would be happy to, is bordering on madness.

Nick Clegg and all other politicians couldn't care less about the electorate! The policies they introduce normally do not effect them so why should they worry if those on 26k lose their child benefit?

Except he's not actually said that he wants CB taken from people earning 26K. Take a deep breath and put your sense of injustice back in your pocket.

Lucky1979. I don't have a 'sense of injustice' well certainly not for myself, my husband earns to much for me to worry about child benefit, but I still say politicians are not effected by policies they introduce and could not care less about you, me or anyone else. If you believe NC is any different from other reprobates at Westminster then think again! Grin
