I do. I am very nice to them. Can't speak for anyone else.

Yes, I was thinking more about the "system" we live under. Does it give the elderly a fair deal?

for example some people say in Scotland they dont take your house away from you when you are old. In England they can.

I think so. I hope it is as generous when I need it.

As riven said, the authorities don't take you're house away, they ask you to use your assets to pay for you're own care. Selling a house that you are never going to live in again is not that outrageous. If you had the cash in the bank you would expect it to be used. Although, I know plenty of people see it as the state taking away their inheritance.

It's a better country for the elderly than it is for the young at the moment.

Teh system? It's better than some I suppose.

The weather? No, it's not kind to the old.

The culture? No it's not good for the elderly. In many countries elders are looked after by family. We don't seem to go in for that very much. We. just leave them to struggle on with a home help, or put them in a home.

And no, I don't plan to live with my parents or in laws in their old age.
