What is expected for the ceremony. I know the format of the confirmation but I have never been to one. Is it a dress up occasion, do I invite family. I really haven't a clue!!!!

I wouldn't say it was a dress up occasion, but it depends on the church. Some like to wear white for confirmation, but not many churches bother with that now, especially when it's not children being confirmed. Just wear something you feel comfortable being in when in church. It's about you making a confirmation of your faith and that's the most important aspect.
Yes, invite family; it's an important part of your spiritual journey. It would be nice for them to share in it.
Hope you have a fantastic day.

Yes, just wear something you feel happy and comfortable in. I've known plenty of people turn up in every-day stuff, but others like to put on a smarter outfit: you're likely to have your picture taken the with Bishop who is confirming you, so choose something that will look nice on the photo next to his cassock and stole (and cope if he wears one). But really it doesn't matter what you wear.

Hope you enjoy your day.

Our church, I would say smart casual. DH is being confirmed in September. He isn't telling his family, but then he feels like he will be teased for it. I personally would tell my family, invite them along, perhaps have a small celebration afterwards.

What wonderfula news Mary

When I was confirmed last year we all wore smart-ish clothes - i.e. no jeans or t.shirts. I wouldn't really worry about wearing white as it's not necessary unless you are being baptised at the same time. Enjoy it!

Congratulations Tenalady. Whatever you wear, I hope that you have a wonderful day and that it is the beginning of a long and exciting journey for you.

Mary!

It should be a big celebration. If you have godparents, then do invite them as well as Christian members of your own family.

Your whole church family should turn out.

Casual clothes are fine, and quick changing if you are reaffirming baptism vows in a pool. If there are lots of teens being confirmed at the same time, there will be loads of scruffy people there. You certainly don't need to put on your wedding clothes.

Thats great everyone, thank you. Phew! was getting a bit uptight as I was a bit unsure.
