Complicated Christening?

This is my first ever posting
My DS has just turned 3 and I am desperate to have him christened. Myself, my sisters, parents etc have all been christened at our local church and we have also had many weddings there, as well as all attending the twinned Primary School when we were younger.
The problem rests in DS's surname. On his birth cert he has his biological father's surname, with whom he has no contact and has not since he was 2 weeks old. He is known by my surname for all other purposes.
My question is really - how will this work within the service and records? Will his birth cert surname be spoken about and used a lot? And more worryingly, will the church be put off by the situation with being unmarried and also not having biological father around?
Thanks, any advice/answers gratefully received

I don't think most churches will have any issue with you not being married, or with the father not being around. It's just not that unusual any more, and churches have to deal with the real world most of the time!

When my DS was christened, they didn't use our surname at all, he was just referred to by his Christian names all through the service. It actually startled my Dad a bit, as we gave DS my surname as his middle name so the last name they said each time was my maiden name IYSWIM?

I think they will probably have to put his birth certificate name on the baptism certificate, but you could ask if they would put your surname on as well if that's the one you use normally for him.

Thanks, if that is the case then that's fab. Think I will just ring and go and have a chat now I know it's not worst case scenario! And if I can have my surname on the cert that's even better
