What should I go see? We have a week there.

I am a bit 'holland & barratt' / woo, so really looking forward to that aspect of it.

Thinking of seeing so far:

Wooky Hole (snurk)
Chalice Well
Clarks Village Outlet Shopping Thingy

We will be inbetween Wells and Glastonbury, we have a 13 year old, a 4 year old, and luckily, a car.

If GlastonburyGoddess doesn't comment on this thread I will be disappointed!

Oh and I posted in this bit, as I am especially interested in the spiritual aspect, and thought those in the know would be frequently this section.

I think it's traditional to see dead people tbh

Walk up the Tor, preferably in bracing wind.

Maybe visit Cheddar for the gorge and of course the cheese?

Wander round Glastonbury itself looking in all the alternative shops.

Book yourselves in for massage/gong bath/reiki - loads of therapists in Glasto.

Nothing specifically spiritual for you there I'm afraid but I think you will find that Glastonbury is brimming over with spirituality and like minded souls, you will love it

GlastonburyGoddess · 30/04/2010 23:06

haha hello!

The abbey ruins, the tor, we have lots of nature reserves within 2/3miles- ham wall in meare, westhay, one on the old bristol road just outside wells.

cheddar gorge+gaves/jacobs ladder

wookey hole is imo HUGELY overpriced ok day out but not outstanding, food there is v v costly-£8 for a slice of quiche with salad so if you go take a picnic! also try and look out for local mags/brochures from tourist info as they often have vouchers for money off.

eastsomersetrailway at cranmore-they have a website, often do thomas days/themed days

The bath and west show june 2nd-also have a website-kids go free when booked in advance

wells catherdal, bishops palace/the moat-great place for little one to feed the ducks if your in wells.

When your in glastonbury theyre loads of nice places to eat, hundred monkeys, blue note, rainbows end or if eating on the go- theres a lovely delicatessen in the middle of the high street-truckle of cheese-MIL is manager there! they serve lots of lovely things, plus teas coffees and lovingtons ice cream!

probably lots ive missed mentioning but will post back if i think of anything glaringly obvious ive missed!

I agree with ginger, we have tons of healers/therapists here and you can have pretty much any treatment/therapy going/arura readings/tarot etc etc you can find these very easily by asking/looking around in town

Me Me Me!!
I'm there at the end of May too!!

I am alarmly into Glastonbury and spirituality so will try to restrain myself from enthusing so much I scare you!!

Chalice Well is wonderful, the children will love it but do try to sneak in for a moment on your own if you can as I find it restores my sense of 'me'.

Full Moon Event at Chalice Well

The Goddess Temple is such a great place and welcoming, though usually pretty silent for meditating.

Starchild sells wonderful Goddesses, candles and inscence.

There are lots of bookshops too, with bargains.

The Rural Life Museum is good and does a great cream tea.

This is a good resource Online Guide

I do hope you love it as much as I do.

GG I will be trying to spot you, I usually think when in 100 Monkeys, 'I bet she's a Mumsnetter'

KayHarker · 01/05/2010 14:49

I love starchild, it just smells fantastic and earthy, like you're in a magical cave.

Nemofish · 01/05/2010 19:07

Earthymama, you couldn't scare me, seriously!

Looking forward to Starchild, will start saving my pennies now!

wells is very pretty too and the catherdral nice.

Earthymama · 04/05/2010 14:30

KH, that's so true, Starchild is cave-like, the carved door is beautiful and I love the beautiful altar/shrine made of petals etc.
I have so many of the different incences, I love 'Earth'. We always come out of the Temple and head into Starchild to gather our senses before a cuppa and a cake.

One of the nicest shops is Goddess and Green Man, though I did spot a new Faery Shop......

Nemofish · 04/05/2010 16:41

I can't wait! Earth incense is firmly on my shopping list, I am doing lots of work at the moment to 'earth' and ground myself, have noticed a huge reduction in anxiety and panic attacks since.

The Bath and West Show looks excellent, will get tickets soon.

I do want a reading / treatment but I'm not sure what.

Only a week to go and my favourite best band Seize the Day is playing while I am in Glastonbury!!
After the depression I've sunk into over politics I can't believe it!

I bought a CD while in Glastonbury years ago and then was lucky enough to see them at the Assembly Rooms at a 50th anniversary of CND gig. I have also grabbed the lead singer in the street and subjected her to Big Welsh Cwtch, much to DP's embarrassment!

Politics and music and the Goddess, what's not to like!

Earthymama · 27/05/2010 20:41

Someone say Hi?
Nemo are you online? I have been looking for you, though have been quite dazed for a couple of days, a combination of incredible sunshIne and awe inspiring experiences.

GG, I have had drinks & icecream in Truckle but have not identified you for sure.

We have been so lucky with the weather, Avalon has basked in the sun. For the first time ever I was warm on the Tor, in fact I cwttched down & slept, which was a disconcerting experience.

I hope you have all enjoyed the lovely weather, if you are passing through or if you are lucky enough tohave your home here.
