So imagine you found a complementary therpapist type person, yeah...

... and they offered:

Indian Head Massage
Swedish Massage ('normal' / full body massage)
Reiki
Thai hand massage
Thai foot massage
Ear candling

Would that seem like a full range of therapies to you? Is there something there you might fancy? Any glaring omissions?

If they offered tarot readings too, would that, frankly, just be odd and not in keeping with the other stuff?!

Would you be more likely to choose this therapist if they were also a qualified aromatherapist and qualified reflexologist?

And if they also did Karuna reiki would that mean anything to you?!

Sorry that should be therapist in the thread title, not 'therpapist.' Although I may consider becoming one of those...

I would think that I would try them out and see if I

  1. liked the person
  2. enjoyed the treatment/session

Yes this seems like a range of therapies, most therapists start off with what they have learned and then build on that. If I were only qualified in one of these I would see no reason to get 'out there' and offer that therapy for a start, then if I learned others I could add to my repertoire.
It wouldn't matter to me if they were also qualified in aromatherapy or reflex - unless of course I wanted to try those out too

Karuna reiki is just a different vibration of reiki. It's all good

For me I would find offering Tarot readings alongside these things quite odd and actually it might put me off. Nothing major against Tarot - but for those who dont like it/find it offensive it could be off-putting.
Karuna Rieki doesnt mean anything to me - and Yes I would be more impressed by the extra aromatherepy / reflexology quals - but would still be happy if you didnt have them!

Thanks guys that does help.

I do tarot but I will keep it separate and 'put it with' mediumship (if I get good enough in time).

Taking reflexology and aromatherapy this year, hoping this will help me offer a 'wider' service iykwim.

I first started out with reiki and indian head and was totally bemused by the fact I got the grand total of 1 customer

I am going to do it properly next time...

Nemo Good luck xxx and for your mediumship and I hope this doesn't come across as patronising or condescending in any way but I have discovered on my own self journey that if you always take the first answer that comes into your head then it's pretty much spot on, and it doesn't give your brain time to analyse and process. I only say this as you have commented 'if you get good enough'. xxx

I would think of the massage stuff as being nice relaxy spa-type stuff, whereas tarot is 'woo'. It would put me off, TBH, if I were looking for a massage.

Nemofish · 19/03/2010 08:34

Indigobarbie - I think that the mediumship is something that I will always carry with me, I think I will get some 'help' with readings from that quarter and personal help (my great grandmother is one of my guides) but nothing like platform work or development circle (although I did think about it wistfully!)

TrillianAstra - you are right, best to separate the woo and non-woo elements!
